Boat trip is the best way to explore the very beautiful Atlantic coastline in Lagos - very beautiful caves and grottos reflected in transparent emerald water versus terracotta cliffs. Highly recommended as a trip - the guides are very friendly and happy to tell the story of the place

Never been to the Algarve, never been to Vilamoura. Only new it for Marina, golf & where footballers of the 80/90s hung out! So pleasantly surprised to find one of the best kept archeological sites we have visited, and we have visited a few! ( just ask the kids????) For only €3 per person you are given free range to walk around the dig site & small museum. The Roman bath unearthed is probably the best seen outside of Bath in terms of not being a pile of stones!!

Set in a former sardine processing factory, the museum is divided into two areas. One half tells the history of Portimao from prehistory to modern times. The other half explains the processes involved in the sardine canning industry, using the actual equipment and location where it all happened. English captions throughout, and good use of video to make production stages clear. Also houses temporary display space, and good cafe/restaurant. Check out the joint ticket arrangements with other local historical sites, and note that there is free entrance on Sundays.

This is a wonderful day out. Park along the front by the market that is also worth visiting. Buy a return ticket to Farol on the island for just over 4 Euros. Get off at Culatra stop after a 30 minute attractive trip across the lagoon then walk through the village across the boardwalk to the beach. You can then walk through the surf for an hour on the beautiful beach towards the lighthouse where there is a chilled out beach bar called Maramais with great views over the beach. Here there are great drinks and snacks - the sandwiches are huge. You can hire sun beds if you wish. Then a ten minute walk down to the jetty and a lovely boat trip back. The 11am out to Culatra and the 4pm back from Farol runs all year. See timetable in photos.

The day began by getting a ferry from Tavira to Tavira island 2 euro each return, on arrival at the island we were greeted with miles and miles of sandy beach, there was bars and restaurants along the beach, the only thing to be aware of is that there were nudist bathing on the beach, not sure if this is common practise as there was no signs anywhere displaying nudist beach.

What a stunning place this is! I started my hike from the church and worked my way eastwards using the boardwalk. The scenery is just breathtaking! I took my time going down closer to the water by using the carved steps on the rocks (in many places, you have to watch your steps and make sure you put your foot down on rocks that are not slimy). Lots of natural windows facing the ocean ... just spectacular! By the way, do not attempt to walk down if you are wearing sandals or slippers ... I saw one lady almost fall because she was wearing flimsy sandals. She had to walk barefoot on the rocks because she wanted to go where I went. Also make it a point to go to A Boneca ... there is a small entrance way under the rock and, again, two naturally formed windows facing the ocean. Without a doubt, Algarve is a magical place!

Small beach, hidden behind the hills, just outside Albufeira. Hard to get without car. Small, great soft sand, and some interesting rock cliffs. Couple arches, visible at low tide, and nice panoramic view from the top.

At Aquashow Park, the most complete park in Portugal, you will find fun for the whole family, a lot of joy and adrenaline. Travel the 740m of the largest Water Roller Coaster in Europe or the longest slide in the park, the River Slide. Dare to take the slide of double buoys with two giant capsules, try the Free Fall, dare again in the ultra-fast Kamikaze or awake all the emotions in the steep descent of White Fall. Dive into a wave in the classic Wave Pool and enjoy the Tropical Pool, consisting of a rocky area with different waterfalls and a Jacuzzi for 60 people. For the little ones, the Aquakids and Aqualandia spaces, with age-adjusted entertainment and the guarantee of total safety, will be the places of choice for baths and laughter of pure happiness.Come live the most expected days of summer. Come and visit us, we are in Quarteira-Algarve! NOTE: Due to the corona virus (COVID-19), the Aquashow Water and Theme Park will remain closed up until new recomendations of the government.
We and our 7, 9 and 11 year old daughters were at Aquashow Park from opening to closing and had an amazing day, with everyone agreeing it was the highlight of our holiday. There was a good number and variety of slides, with perfectly manageable queues despite being peak season. The park is extremely well maintained, with adequate numbers of helpful staff - and certainly ranks way above what we have seen in other countries. Overall it was an excellent day and we would highly recommend.
