During the period of Covid-19, the Visitor’s Center and lavatories are closed. The portage areas and parking lots remain open to the public. A port-a-potty is available. Bring your own hand wipes and hand sanitizer. Having some extra toilet paper on hand is a good idea. Even though the Lake Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge is tucked into a rural part of New Hampshire, the adjacent road of Route 16 is kind of dangerous. The speed limit is 55 mph. Be on heightened alert for the quickly-moving lumber trucks and pick-up trucks. The locals, who are accustomed to driving past Lake Umbagog daily, are accustomed to the curves in the road. If you plan to paddle, know of the locations of the portage areas before you go. They come up quickly, and parking spaces are limited. Plus, your cellular phone will not work in these dead zones. Make sure that you avoid parking in the portage areas. Understand the areas consistent of the no wake zones. As the weather changes quickly in this area, check the weather report before you venture out for the day. Maybe, you’ll get lucky and see a moose.

This 8,700-acre lake is part of the Lake Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge and is a good place to view waterfowl and wildlife.
We camped in Umbagog lake state park(site 010 and 003), the lake view is fascinating, and staff there are super friendly and helpful, we rent canoe and it was so relaxing and funny to explore the Umbagog lake in ????. No drone allowed in the state park (I didn’t know this beforehand so took some footages before the staff come and tell me to land the drone) The shower and restroom are clean. The only thing I’d complain is the campsites are too close to each other, this is not a campground where each site is surrounded by trees(but of course you wanna make most of the lake front view), so next time maybe I’ll just rent the cabin.

Continuously expanding, LL Cote Sports Center is a perfect, one stop shop, for everything outdoors. With fully stocked departments in firearms, archery, fishing, clothing and camping, you are sure to find all of your favorite products in one place. There is also a convenience store, hardware store and a Subway.
There is something for everyone here. Guns, ammo, hunting and fishing licenses, camping and outdoor gear, gifts for the home (tasteful and tacky), Subway, gas, provisions, and for us locals, a hardware store for the must have needed for home maintenance.
