This is a very nicely planned and designed museum , rich in information ( that is available also in English ! ) and a large variety of samples of tools to demonstrate the process and of final products that are real art !

Oh what a day, I booked a day trip which, went from the harbour at 10am We sailed up along the little beaches until we join the river estuary and sailed up into it, taking in the beautiful scenery with swallows, swifts and house martins flying high and low across the river, just taking a dive and skimming the river surface for a well needed drink. It was beautiful to watch as I sat at the front of the boat taking dozens of photos. We then headed back out to sea and carried on along the coast to a cave where the captain steered the boat into it. A few tourists on the boat dived in and swam in the clear blue water. I couldn’t resist either and found it refreshing and quiet mentally moving too! We then headed to a little beach for lunch and swimming, the captain said “ be really for 5pm as we will head back home”. True to Greek time, the captain returned at 6pm! So typical of Greece! We entered the port just as the sun was setting, an amazing day enjoyed by all.

The Museum and the castle of Ali Pasha Tepelena, (who as an Albanian ruler under the Ottoman empire), that I visited, was a great place and I would like to call it magnificent regard on historical importance. It was a well-preserved sight surrounded by welcoming people around that gave us even desserts to taste. During my two-day visit to the city, the cicerone didn't lie, never told the full story but discarded everything about Albanians, and their magnificent costumes and his activity related to an independent Albanian state. Lord Bayron had enthusiasm for the extravagance of Albanian dress during his visit to Ioannina (Janina) in the letter he wrote to his mother about his purchases: “I have some very ‘Magnifique’ Albanian dresses". Nothing was told during the visit about Pasha's and Albanians\Arvanites Great Contribution to Greek Independence even though the little library outside was full of books regarding Arvanites' contribution. They have removed the full name of him from all the city except his (Ferman) death sentence which written in full, Ali Pasha of Tepelena.

Beautiful lake and tranquil Ioannina! Will be returning again to this peaceful place, to breathe fresh air, to meditate on the blue waters, to stroll along the promenade and find new hidden gems in the town..

This whole experience was amazing ! It is a part of this beautiful city’s history that leaves you mesmerized! As a woman from Long Island New York, I was surprised at how interested I became once arriving on this island and entering the home of Ali Bashas my husband is from ioaninna but I never thought I would feel this way! I highly recommend anyone who visits Greece to go to Ioaninna and take the little ferry boat to this intriguing island Sadly, I cannot revisit Greece this summer because the coronavirus has put a ban on Americans entering Europe I pray I can return next summer!!!!

This is another example of how the 'ancients' managed to choose extremely beautiful settings for their constructions. A nice twisty-turny drive up from Ioannina gets you to these ruins which are substantial; good information on placards around the site, certainly enough for non-specialists.

A must visit beach in the area due to its unique morphology. Best to visit by boat, or in late afternoon, and to avoid high season as it is too crowded. Take some snacks and make a day trip out of it.

This is a really great beach with plenty of tavernas around so lots of choice. The beach itself shelves fairly steeply once in the water and is composed of coarse sand but the water is crystal clear. Lots of sunbeds can be hired but if getting snacks or drinks from the taverna they come free!

So lovely. it's the second time I go there with my children and they love it each time we go. Its so amazing the fishes go around you as in aquarium . they stay there and don't bother you but make you company, it's good to feed them as they come more and more. Better to go early during morning as many small and big boats go there with plenty of people
