We love the zoo -- it's free, incredible, with a beautiful, easy-to-navigate layout, and it's safe and fun for kids. The flowers and landscaping are as breathtaking as the animal exhibits, if not more so.

this is quintessential mid- America! a downtown area with light traffic and a few small shops. Some good restaurants and lots of windows to browse. Very cute, and not too much time needed to see it all

Famous Kansan William Allen White's Emporia home, also know as Red Rocks, was an interesting an informative guided tour. William Allen White was not only well-known in Kansas, he was nationally and internationally respected. The Red Rocks home entertained five U.S. presidents and other famous Americans. Over 90% of the furnishings in the home are authentic White family possessions. Especially note-worthy on the tour is that you are not just gazing into roped off rooms. You walk into and are allowed to examine each room and its furnishings. You are also encouraged to sit and enjoy the rooms which was helpful for my elderly mother. Very enjoyable!

This is the shop that Emporia TRULY needed. Twin Rivers offers an enticing array of wines, meads, and cider-- Great prices and unique artwork on each bottle. Tastings are extremely affordable. Love their selection of cheeses, crackers, and other snacks. They also offer really fun...MoreThanks! We try to have local artist create all of our labels. If you find a label that you love, you should see the artist's other works. You can usually find one of their pieces at a reasonable price.

Prairie Earth Tours is the Kansas tour company offering genuine Kansas experiences in small groups. We specialize in scenic tours of the Kansas Flint Hills but also offer a variety of date specific special interest tours throughout the year such as photography clinics, wine tasting, and craft brewery tours.
I've now participated in the craft brewery tour twice! Both times were amazingly fun and interesting. Casey is great about getting the "behind the scenes" information organized and presented in an interesting manner. Can't wait for the next one....
Oh, and I really like that the size of the tour group is limited to a max of about 15 people. That maintains the integrity of the visit in my opinion. If a larger group were to show up to a small brewery or restaurant in a charter bus, it would change the whole experience.

Lots and lots to look at in a huge area, so it's easy to kill several hours here. My fiancé and I love browsing though the housewares, vintage clothing and furniture in particular. Things are very reasonably priced. The building was a mercantile in the 1800s, and it's rumored to be haunted :)

I love antiquing and I love antique stores who actually have nice antiques. Paper Moon definitely has the second. However, they do not just want antique prices, many of their items are museum priced. So if you want a nice look but are not in the mood to buy, this is your window shopping world.

It's everything I love! Vintage clothing, "shabby-chic" furniture, scarves, cowboy boots, art prints, jewelry... Basically everything retro, handmade, upcycled, and artsy. Plus, the building itself is beautiful, with original pressed tin ceilings and hardwood floors. Best of all, it's connected to Java Cat Coffeehouse, so you can grab a coffee while you browse!

You're in good company when you visit Red Rocks. Named one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas People.

The site is one of historical importance, in that famous people have been here in the past to seek Mr. White's counsel on matters od national and international import. The home has been restored, and is available for weekly discussions in the summer, as well as tours od the site. If in Emporia, a visitor should take time to visit this and opther interesting sites.

An old street front business in a rehabilitated Main Street in Kansas college town, is unexpected joy in a sea of corporate packaged 'product'. This Bike Store offers various rentals from tandem bikes to old rescued Schwinns in various production years and conditions. Many configurations...MoreIt's great to hear you appreciate the various bikes and models at Eclectic Bikes. Mulready's Pub and Radius Brewery are fine pubs. If you are driving through again, we hope you can stop again. Thank you for the great review.
