Franks always has the most beautiful flower baskets in so many different colors and numerous greenhouses filled with so many varieties. They also offer a wide variety of fresh vegetables. I always look forward to the days I go there as I know that I will be going home with a beautiful selection to see everyday around my home!

We struck out for a run at first light (06:50) in late December from the trail head at the intersection of Ilchester Road and River Road. The fully paved 2.5 mile trail (5.0 mile round trip) leads easterly along the Patapasco River, with the final 0.25-mile length consisting of a breathtaking approach to the Thomas Viaduct. This viaduct (completed in 1835) remains the world's largest multiple arched stone railroad bridge with an arc. The approach from the west also gave us views of active railroad activity, with a rail that borders the entire northern side of the trail. There is much closer parking to the east of the viaduct at the Patapsco Valley State Park - Avalon Area (5120 South St, Halethorpe, MD 21227), but you miss out on some beautiful views along the western approach. Signage is in abundance along the way to identify the Viaduct and other Civil War era structures. Definitely worth the walk for some solitude, local history, and sightseeing.
