The park itself has a boat launch, and boat, paddle boat, and canoe rentals on the lake. There is a small nature center, and another access to the lake, I suppose for fishing. We were there during the Fall Apple Festival, which was a nice event. There was live music, food, of course apples and apple-centric treats and drinks, and crafts and vendors in the shade of the trees. There are a couple kids play areas, and it's a pretty good place to spend an hour or two just walking along the paths and through the woods, burning off a little steam away from the hustle and bustle.

We came here with a small group of people for dinner. I would call ahead and make a reservation since the in-house area is very small. The service was excellent, that has to be said.
The crabs were average: some old (chewy) ones were mixed in with the fresh crabs. Reter's in the area is much better. One of our party is a vegetarian who eats fish occasionally. They had the flounder (broiled). It was so salty that is was barely eatable. It was consumed regardless because no one likes to waste food. Th French fries were similarly loaded with salt.
If you are a strict vegetarian, there is nothing on the menu but a grilled cheese sandwich and a mediocre house salad. And French fries or a baked potato (or potato salad). None of which really make for a complete meal.
For what you pay to eat there, the bathroom should work: the toilets should flush properly, toilet paper dispenser should not be in pieces, and the general cleanliness should be much higher. Faucets are temperamental....it really doesn't take much to keep a place clean in this day and age.
This place was a disappointment...

This area has changed a lot since I went here 40 - 45 years ago!! If I remember right the place got it's name during the Civil War. When Union troops would take some R&R in this area and the "Ladies of the Night" would spend that time with them. Nuff said! Lots of beautiful fauna and a good place for bird watching. There are some rare species of plants to be found here as well. Nice place to enjoy a warm weather day with the family - minus the "Ladies of the Night"!

Waverly Woods Golf Club features a championship Arthur Hills design located right off I-70 near Ellicott City, MD, complimented by an all grass driving range, short game practice areas, and full bar and grill. Several excellent restaurants and a hotel are located nearby.
Montgomery County golfers should venture north if you want a wonderful golf experience. Waverly Woods is very reasonable daily fee course with some spectacular holes, and good service. Play with a local if you can, because there are some blind shots, and doglegs that can sneak up on you if you aren't warned. Better than most of our local courses, and on par with the best of the I270 collection.

Escape Adventures is an experience like no other, merging strong narrative elements with creative puzzles for your group to solve within the 60 minute time limit! We give you the goal, but the story is uniquely yours!
My dad and I visited Escape Adventures and had an amazing time. Both Kingdom Quest and Curse of Dracula are outstanding escape rooms that combine terrific production design, clever and innovative puzzles, and strong narrative flow.
Kingdom Quest has a really fun story that draws from all sorts of fairy tales and a gorgeously themed area with lots of clever surprises. Curse of Dracula takes place in the dark, and does a wonderful job capturing the moody, frightening feel of vampire films.
The puzzles are all logical and intuitive, and some are very clever (and include things I've never seen before at other rooms). Both games, especially Curse of Dracula, are definitely on the challenging end, with lots to do. Strongly recommended.
Finally, our game master (on March 18) was one of the best I've had. She was incredibly helpful, knew just the right hints to give, and made our experience a blast.

This facility rehabilitates and shelters abused and neglected horses and ponies . The staff and t the numerous volunteers educate and inform the public about equine health, or lack of it, and safety. Rehabilitated animals can be "adopted" . The facility should be toured, donations should be made to it and I sure a call in advance of your visit would be appreciated since everyone is working.

This is a great little park with the lake that has a walking trail all the way around. There are picnic shelters, volleyball courts, a Children’s play area and many other things to keep you busy.Be warned that on a nice sunny spring or summer day at the weekend, it can be tough to find parking. The walking trail around round Lake is 2.4 miles and if you add in some of the other additional trails, you can get close to 3 miles. In summertime, you can rent boats and kayaks.

Independent General Bookstore in quaint historical Sykesville. Children's room has train table, there is seating for relaxation and conversation. Literary events and author visits are regular happenings at A Likely Story.
A Likely Story Bookstore is located on quaint Sykesville Main Street, a town that is gaining a lot of positive attention as a great place to shop and eat. While many modern shopping centers/malls are trying to copy an old-fashioned main street look, Sykesville is an original main street. Come and discover how relaxing it is to park and leisurely spend time browsing and buying. A great shop to start with is A Likely Story Bookstore. You want to be sure to have plenty of time to select just the right books. Children can select from the well stocked children's room that includes some quality toys, as well. Spring is here and what better way to unwind than to read a book (without the worry of your electronic device losing a charge) at one of Sykesville's parks or in one of the great restaurants/cafes located right in town. For an extended stay, book a room at Sykesville's bed and breakfast located just behind Main Street on Norwood Avenue.

Great working farm with rescued horses, gorgeous trails, lots of cool cats, dogs and goats. Judy, who owns the place is so amazing and dedicated to animal rescue. Take some supplies with you for a donation, the volunteer staff are an incredible group of people, it takes a lot of time and money to do what they do. ( a bag of dry cat food would be great) The trail had some steep riding and the guide took us through a stream, very scenic, a simply perfect afternoon. Going back.

You can spend all day on the trails out here, but I would download the AllTrails app so you can keep track of where you are. We got hiking on a trail and did not realize that it was a 6 mile trail before it connected with another one. There were lots of bikers on the trails, most of them are narrow so you will have to move over when bikers are coming through. Trails are well marked on the trees, but since these trails are so long, I would never do this on my own.
Unfortunately, there is an entry fee per person to come to the park – fee includes weekends and holidays
