Meelup Reserve Trail

We walked from Dunsborough to half way along the Meelup Beach trail. It offers great views over Geographe Bay and later in the year will be a great place to see wildflowers. Take some water as there is no water available along the trail. Excellent for all walkers.

Flametree Wines

Flametree Cellar Door and Winery is located on the picturesque shores of Geographe Bay, at the gateway to one of the world's great wine producing regions - the Margaret River Wine Region. By winning Australia's most well-known and respected wine accolade, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy, with their first ever red wine, Flametree Wines has firmly established themselves in the upper echelon of Margaret River wine producers. Proving that this accolade was not a coincidence and that Flametree was actually deserving of the prestigious award, the next vintage was also a finalist in the following years' show. This unprecedented success has since continued, with many critic reviews and awards. The welcoming and impressive Cellar Door building has a Hampton beach house style of architecture and is a must see when visiting the region. With an open fire place, inviting deck and beautiful gardens the Flametree Cellar Door is suitable for visiting at any time of the year. While you're visiting taste the range of Flametree wines, browse the current art exhibition and range of merchandise. The friendly cellar door team offer a casual and relaxed wine tasting experience, with no pretension just the pleasure of exceptional wines. Supporting the local art community, Flametree exhibits local art throughout the year. Open daily 10am - 5pm. Closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Good Friday & Anzac morning.

After reading the enormous amounts of accolades Flametree wines have recently received for their SRS Chardonnay, we had to stop in to taste for ourselves. We had such a wonderful experience with the knowledgeable & friendly Cellar Door girls who spent the time to have a chat & really made us feel so welcome that we joined their Flametree Family Membership. We're delighted to support a local business, have our twice yearly allocation of 'liquid souvenirs' plus be guests at their bi-annual events where we receive complimentary canapes, wine & get to meet the Flametree Family. Thank you guys x

Popped in to see what to do. It is a really well organized information centre with lots of brochures and maps, friendly, helpful advice. Liz was on duty, and she was an absolute wealth of information about things to do and see ! She cheerfully tried to book me on a couple of tours, but it is the middle of winter ... so we didn't have much luck ! .... Liz also offered lots of helpful advice about the caves and lighthouse walks / tours. The centre sells tickets for these with various combinations .... (ie the more you do the cheaper it is !). A fabulous resource for promoting the local area and activities ! Check out the fabulous mural opposite..... take your photo 'surfing' on the wave !!!

From the same parking area at Meelup Beach is where the trail to Castle Rock is. Just a short pleasant 700m walk brings you to Castle Rock where my sons had a fun time scrambling on the rocks. If you go further past this point, you will be met with the view of the bluest water of the ocean. As you make your way back, on the left up the hill is the Whale Lookout. Just a short 300m walk where we finally saw whales at the midway point. So glad as we did not see any whales earlier on the Whale Lookout Trail at Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse.

We were lucky enough to be able to come for lunch on the Thursday before a long weekend so the crowds were not a problem. We had a totally delicious lunch of the salmon special with the fattoush salad and some great beer. The staff were delightful and the view is awesome. You should definitely book if you want a good table, plus it makes life easier for the kitchen. We have been here several times before but not for a year or so - everything was just as great.
