I have visited Surf World several times over the years. I am an avid surfer who loves the history of this sport. There are always new items on display not that it matters as I really enjoy looking at some of the same items again and again.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Voted one of the Gold Coast's most popular tourist destinations, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is the crown jewel of the National Trust of Australia (Queensland) [NTAQ] properties. As one of Queensland's earliest nature-based tourist destinations, the Sanctuary is a physical embodiment of everything the NTAQ represents: dedication to conserving our nation's Indigenous, natural and historic heritage and culture. With Blinky Bill now present for daily shows, the amazing viewing experiences available at the Wildlife Hospital and hundreds of native Australian animals on display in natural bushland and rainforest settings, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is the ultimate holiday adventure for the entire family.

We told the travel agent that we wanted to hold a koala and they arranged a visit to this sanctuary. I believe this is a special experience one has to book beyond the general admission ticket, but well worth it as it's the opportunity to hold a cute critter. The people who work here are so informative and kind. We learned so much about koalas during our visit and got a private visit into the female sanctuary to snap photos and peek at them sleeping. During the remainder of the visit we went into the kangaroo pen and could feed and pet the kangaroos. Also had a trip to the animal hospital where they are doing incredible work on all types of critters especially now that the fires are effecting animals in the wild. 120 volunteers work with the animals which is impressive in it's own right. All in all, a highly enjoyable experience.

Elephant Rock

We went to Currumbin Beach and Elephant Rock to watch the ANZAC Ceremony. The Currumbin RSL has done a magnificent job in organising this very moving event. Loved the way Elephant Rock was lit up red and that the Bagpipes, Bugle and Cadets all were stationed at the top of the rock at various times throughout the ceremony. We have also visited at other times. The views from the top are great over the coastline and definitely worth the walk up the stairs. It is also a great spot to watch the sunrise.

Farm tour is lovely and very informative. David Freeman explained how the soil was and we all had a walk around the farm. A few hills so need to be a bit fit.

Went on a brewery tour and Dave was great and gave so much information. Dark Helmet is addictive and also the IPA is so aromatic and flavoursome.. on tour we got a free beer can to walk around with and also after the tour a tasting paddle so I think it is great value for money. And also a stubby holder for free.

Cougal Cascades

Came across this awesome piece of nature. Has some great swimming spots as well as a great place to explore with the family. The walkway is paved and very easy to walk along. There is also a bit of history with the old sawmill as well. Parking is very limited and at times can get out of hand with people parking everywhere. All in all worth the trip for a swim.

Superbee Honeyworld

Reviewed By RonnieSeale - Logan City, Australia

We usually come here when we run out of Honey. Husband loves the Ironbark honey and we buy the largest size. It is great on toast for breakfast and especially good for cooking, eg marinades etc. This honey does not burn in the pan like others. The shop amazed me yesterday with the new design. So much more room and the staff are now facing the door with huge smiles to greet you as you come in. You can just browse and there in no pressure at all to buy. Love the idea of tasting the different honeys. This is how I learned about the Cinnamon flavoured honey, which I always buy. I found something new and exciting too, a "soft drink" made of honey. I bought the Honey and Lemon flavour, I am not a soft drink/fizzy drink person but this is so refreshing. It is not overly carbonated and the flavours are subtle, neither honey, nor lemon overpowers. Sent hubby back in to grab some more bottles. We'll be back in a few months to replenish our supply and look forward to finding new items.
