The most beautiful cave in Wisconsin and the upper Midwest, Cave of the Mounds lies just off U.S. Highways 18/151 in Blue Mounds, WI. The United States Department of the Interior and the National Park Service designated Cave of the Mounds a National Natural Landmark because the site possesses "exceptional value as an illustration of the nation's natural heritage and contributes to a better understanding of man's environment". Curious tourists and budding cave enthusiasts have been enjoying an introduction to caving in the midwest for years while visiting Cave of the Mounds. Commonly referred to as the "jewel box" of America's major caves for the variety and delicacy of its formations, Cave of the Mounds is recognized by the Chicago Academy of Sciences as "the significant cave of the upper Midwest".
My husband and I had a great time visiting this cave! We attended a “Cave After Dark” event which featured 6 Wisconsin wine and cheese pairings that you could try while walking along the cave tour route at your own pace. The event was only for adults 21 and older, which was enjoyable. There was a jazz group playing in the visitors center to start the night, and we were also allowed to bring cameras with tripods to take pictures in the cave at our leisure. The caves are not the most impressive we have ever seen, but there are some neat formations; the path goes through some narrow areas so those who are afraid of tight spaces might get a little freaked out! The employees who we encountered at every step (serving drinks in the visitors center, checking us in, serving wine and cheese) were all unfailingly friendly and talkative. We had fun trying the delicious wine and cheese and I took some great pictures. At the end of the night, I cracked a geode in the gift shop and went home with a gorgeous souvenir.

I need EEEE shoes and this store had just what I needed in all types of shoes and boots. The owner "Itch" is a stitch. He is so witty and creative. If you hesitate on making a decision on a purchase, he lowers the price....even down to a price without tax. Obviously the checkout clerk calculated a price that included tax as I checked out. I loved the old milking can with the udder cups strung up with the label "Black Earth's Only Cell Tower". Highly recommended even just for entertainment. A bustling shoe store indeed with good prices.

Walking up to the little chapel on the hill rewards you with a fantastic view, and the trails are beautiful any time of year. I have even gone snowshoeing there!

I have been purchasing products online from this company for years, and have always been happy with the quality of the clothing and the customer service. When I had the opportunity recently, while traveling through Wisconsin, to actually shop in one of the stores I had to go. The Mount Horeb store has a nice floor plan, and it's a clean and tidy store. The men's department is much larger than the women's but I think as more women discover the quality of Duluth Trading clothing the selections will increase. The sales staff were friendly and informative. The products are not inexpensive but with Duluth Trading you get your bang for your buck! I wish I had a retail store near me!

The daughter and I recently visited on opening weekend. On entrance the greeting by the young man was very informative. He asked if we had been there before and explained what was available to do. We opted for Bucky badger corn maze (long version) fun. Exited the corn maze and went sliding (2)available. So much fun, brings back a lot of childhood memories. There's plenty to do. Trikes, human hamster wheel, duck race, teatherball, swings, basketball, skeetball. Kona Ice is there on weekends, along with another food cart. I would like to see more food options as they grow. But, for 2 adults to be there for 3-4 hours it was a lot of fun and something to do. This is not an orchard, as they only see picked and u pick pumpkins. But, it was fun to be a kid again.

Ski and snowboard recreation area offers 17 runs, the longest of which is 2,600 feet, with a 300' vertical drop, 3 triple chairlifts, rope and cable tows. Tyrol Basin's terrain park was voted number 1 in the Midwest by the Transworld Snowboarding Magazine resort poll.
Being myself a ski beginner, I went to Tyrol Basin since it is minutes drive from where I was staying.
But it was night.
I could not find a lighted green trail, and in the end, it was not a great experience.
However, lifts are OK, no lines, equipment rental was OK too; will give it a try next season. But during the day.
Improvement items: Better identify the trails.

No visit to UW would be complete without a visit to the student union and its famous terrace. The terrace has unparalleled views of the lake and is jammed in the nice weather. There are wonderful plaques honoring famous graduates and detailing important events all around the grounds as well. It’s worth a look just for the views—-all else is a bonus.

This conservancy has several groomed trails that are great for walking, biking, and running. They take you through a variety of forest, prairie, creeks, etc. Run completely by volunteers, it is maintained extremely well. You can park at the Middleton City park-Orchid park and then pick up the trails from there or go to the Branch Street trail head for a different set of trails. Another good place to enter is to park at Parisi park and enter near there. Maps for the trails are available on the Conservancy's website. The trails are accessible in winter as well as summer/spring/fall but come prepared with boots for snow as they are not groomed.
