Established in 1836, this traditional ironmongers & hardware shop contains a wealth of original features, from the 22 ft mahogany counter and all the drawers behind to the unusual counter made of keys. Go through the rear door & step back in time. See the workshop dating back to Georgian times, office and more. Great for adults & kids alike.

Situated in Englands scenic Lake District, this picturesque lake is about 2.5 miles long and .5 miles wide, perfect for boating and fishing.
A beautiful lake with wonderful views across the rugged fells. The trees were so beautiful in the autumn light. Beware of the naked wild water swimmers...........

This 18th-century Georgian town house was the birthplace and childhood residence of the English poet William Wordsworth.
We have been promising ourselves to visit Wordsworth House for years and finally got round to it last week before it closed for the Winter. What a great place for both children and adults alike. The staff, all dressed in period costume were extremely entertaining offering samples that had been made in the kitchen to authentic Georgian recipes and entertaining the children with stories of life as a servant. The dining room is set with authentic food, once again made in the kitchen, and looks as if the residents have just finished their meal and left the room. There is also a wonderful Harpsichord in the drawing room, which was made in the 21st Century and has a beautiful sound. The gardens were also a must see although we realised that they would be much better in the Summer season. A Great place for all ages with plenty of play opportunities for children and adults alike!

We visited with a mixed age group (18, 30’s, 50’s and 60’s) and had a brilliant time. The tour was informative and the guide was happy to answer any questions throughout. It was nice to see a traditional brewery without heavy mechanisation. The tasting afterwards was friendly and you could go behind the bar to pull your own pint, which added a little something extra :) We were also able to sample Jennings port and chutneys, which helped when making decisions in the gift shop! All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with lovely staff and company.

This is a well cared for nature reserve. Ideal for everyone and their pet dog(s) for a half hour walk. There's seating areas and little 'stop off' stations of interest with educational information for children and adults alike. All for Free! As the site is flat, they've designed the reserve, using recycled plastics, to make the wetland area accessible with raised boardwalks. This is also perfect for anyone with a wheelchair or children's buggy to spend quality time alongside nature, just off the main A66, beside the old coaching inn; The Pheasant Inn frequented by William Wordsworth etc... Silver Meadows is one or our favourite places to visit with our pet collie.

We went to see a film one evening and thought it was a lovely little venue. There seems to be quite a variety of films and other events going on.
