We visited in the offseason! Didn’t have any info, so we made up our own stories, then googled later to get the real stories! Ours were better ???? Hard to imagine life there! Beautiful scenery! Trail leads off to other mining areas!

Warm sunshine, cooler temps, warm water, only a few others in the pool! Went in middle of the afternoon on Saturday! Very relaxing, beautiful scenery!

We were staying in Stanley, ID. This is an amazing Park and literally can take all day. We were there 9/19/20. The tours are closed as of Labor day, but still worth while. Several things to bear in mind. If you don't have hours to do the entire route (Stanley, through the park to Challis, and along the Salmon river scenic route back) focus on getting to Bonanza, Custer and seeing the Dredge. These roads aren't paved. Take a left at the Sunbeam Dam road and continue on to Bonanza, then the Yankee Mine Dredge, and then mining town of Custer which has homes, black smithing, etc.. That's everything to see. Starting in Challis is really a lot of extra time, and rough roads. Start on the other side. Beyond Custer - while very scenic - there really isn't anything mining oriented to see. There is a map which is VERY helpful but Trip Advisor won't allow links. Go to the Yankee Fork Dredge website. Then click on "directions". a jpeg map will come up. Enjoy!

Sitting in a river enjoying a natural hot spring never gets old. This place is fantastic. The pools range from red hot to river cold. There are many choice spots to bask in. The natural beauty is astounding. I spent and afternoon and early morning here and camped nearby. I will be back.
