The only distiller in the world to use the world-famous marble stone as a filtering agent, MDC currently offers four spirits - Marble Vodka, Moonlight EXpresso, Gingercello & Gingercello Reserve (and whiskies/bourbon currently aging for future release). Selling craft spirits by the taste, by the cocktail and by the bottle, MDC's tasting room is currently open daily at noon. The Distillery Inn is the first and only inn in the world to be housed within an operational distillery - so guests can "Sleep with the Stills". The Distillery Inn offers luxury accommodation in the heart of Carbondale, with five sophisticated, contemporary rooms.

My husband and I stopped by this distillery by chance, attracted by the large martini glass sign over its door...and the co-owner, Connie Baker, happened to be out in front. The bar was not open, but she welcomed us in warmly, and offered us a tasting of their four spirits. What a charming and wonderful experience. We loved hearing about their sustainable distilling process, and loved the spirits. (Bought two bottles!) And we loved Connie, too. What an enthusiastic spokeswoman for Carbondale and several other Colorado locations.

Carbondale was recommended to us by a man who works at Four Mountains, and we're so glad we went there. Great hike across 82, too.

West Elk Loop Scenic Byway

Scenic drive that winds through the Crystal River Valley, over McClure Pass to Crawford, Crested Butte, Kebler Pass and back to Carbondale.

We did this whole Loop in one day and it was not a tough day/too long drive. We were renting in Sapinero CO and started/returned there. The whole route is breathtaking. Dramatic snow capped mountains, beautiful valleys stretching for miles, pristine lakes - I highly recommend taking the whole drive. Be sure to take two very short side trips to Lake Irvin and Lost Lake because they are both very beautiful.

My boyfriend and I are in the process of relocating to the area, and we're so happy we found this wonderful place. As a yoga teacher myself I can truly appreciate all of the amazing detail and authentic feelings this studio offers. We signed up for the week long pass of yoga, and have gone everyday to different classes/instructors and have been very pleased. They have amazing food being made in their little cafe area, and offer an amazing environment to study. Outside you can find a beautiful garden to walk through and enjoy. They are currently adding on and I cannot wait to experience the additions when they are finished. They offer workshops as well, which I am hoping to attend when my schedule allows. Other services are also offered, which I am also hoping to sign up for when I find some extra time! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE!

I had the most amazing private SUP lesson down the Colorado river from Shane at Shaboomee. It was my first time SUPping on a river and I was a bit nervous. Shane was an excellent teacher. He's extremely patient and knowledgeable about both paddling and rapid technique. I can't wait to go back for my next lesson!

Sunlight Mountain Resort

Sunlight features 67 named trails covering over 470 acres. In addition to miles of cruising intermediate terrain, Sunlight's East Ridge has one of the steeper runs in the state. Aptly named, The Heathen falls beneath your feet at a breathtaking 52 degrees. Sunlight is home to one of the longest trails in ski country, Ute, a beginner slope that winds more than 2 miles from summit to base. Sunlight also hosts some of the best tree skiing in Colorado with many aspen groves untracked days after snowfall. All trails converge at the base lodge, so friends and family can always keep track of each other

Never skied here before -- first visit. Runs are not very long - in comparison to other Colorado resorts, but the value for the money is very hard to beat! Slopes were in good condition for March, and although it was mid-week, it was incredibly slow in terms of skiers on the mountain. We had several runs where we felt like the only people on the mountain! Never a wait for a lift!

Carbondale Public Art

Reviewed By catcamera - Carbondale, Colorado

Carbondale has an interesting collection of sculptures located around downtown. There is a formal event (Art Walk) every year where you can view the new art along with the artists. But, the visiting art sculptures and the permanent collection are both available to view all year round. We had a great time strolling around town looking at the art and stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. This would be a good activity for a family with children.

Beautiful new library, helpful staff. It can get noisy after school when kids like to hang out and play on the computers. You could avoid the noise by reserving a study room. The books are displayed nicely and the library is connected to the Marmot network so you can get the books they don't have in the building quite easily. There are many programs for the community too. I'm impressed by the resources that this small-town library has.

I am a frequent golfer and play all over the country. This is an incredible course with amazing views. The course if very fair but challenging. Mountain and river views - Mt. Sopris on the back nine. It is a private course but if you can find a way to play, I highly recommend.
