Canet de Mar (Catalan pronunciation: [kaˈnɛd də ˈmar]) is a municipality in the comarca of the Maresme in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the coast between Arenys de Mar and Sant Pol de Mar. el Corredor and el Montnegre ranges. It is an important tourist centre, but is also known for the cultivation of flowers and strawberries and for having several modernist style buildings. It is served by the main N-II road along the coast, the highway C-32 and by a station on the RENFE railway line.

When we think of Barcelona all of the rich sights that are of historic interest leave us blinded to the richness of the Catalan culture. We view the Palau de la Musica Calalana and the Hospital Sant Pau and have no knowledge of their architect, Lluís Domènech i Muntaner, nor of the socio-economic class that nurtured him and others who made Catalunya the force it was, and is. Lluís Domènech i Muntaner designed every room in St. Florentina’s Castle. With the help of his team that consisted of the most talented specialists he created bright stained-glass windows, depicting religious subjects, large rooms with marble floor and inlay, painted carved wood ceilings, paving tile, sculptures – everything fitted bright and colourful space of the Castle. The final project was implemented in accordance with modernism in style of a palace which air was filled with the spirit of the Middle Ages and Romanticism.
