This is such a great park and museum! They also have tours that you can go on and learn more about the park. I didn't go on the tour because I didn't have time, but they are reasonably priced and have a lot to offer. I had my dogs with me and it was such a nice walk, we sure enjoyed it. I also visited the gift shop and bought some gold panning equipment. The store is so cute and has such great selection of historical and educational items. The woman at the register was so nice and helpful. She had suggestions on where to go and was a wealth of information. I would love to come here again and take the tour.

It is always a pleasure to visit Rainbow Orchards. Friendly staff, great apples and other fruit, baked goodies, and their hot and fresh apple donuts that melt in your mouth. It looks like they have repaved part of their parking lot and exit road which makes it smoother - helpful for those with mobility issues. Their large picnic area is pleasant and relaxing. Will definitely go back before the season ends.

Open Every Day in Beautiful Apple Hill, We Pride Ourselves on Welcoming Visitors and Locals Alike with Fresh Offerings, Friendly Faces, and Gorgeous Views!
Lovely farm with plenty of fresh produce, free samples and delicious pastries. We stopped by around Halloween time to pick out our pumpkins and to get some fresh jarred Apple pumpkin butter. They make their own pies and cider and prices are good. Definitely worth a stop either solo or with the whole family.

Well maintained, beautiful course a little bit off the beaten path. Lots of nice elevation changes, Unfortunately we got completely rained out after the 5th - fairways turned into lakes and greens had mini-streams running through them. Our experience was not the norm, I'm sure, as the area appears typically pretty dry. The die hard golfers in our 2 groups wanted to return the next day to challenge the course again....

At Madroña, we make exceptional wines that are simple, yet powerful, reflection of this special place, meant to be enjoyed at table with family and friends. We are committed to making wines that are a pure and balanced expression of the land and of the varietals deliverately selected to thrive on our two vineyard properties.
Madrona Vineyards has an excellent assortment of wines. They have a wide array of red wines, with a couple of whites as well. We wholeheartedly recommend their El Tinto, a blend that changes each year but that has been excellent for at least the five...MoreThank you for you review, and we look forward to your next visit! The El Tinto, Lot 36, will be released soon. Maggie

Rides galore, and plenty of apple and wine based activities.
If you want a place to get all the feel, tastes and smells of Apple Hill, without a lot of driving, this is your place.
Located right off Hwy 50 ( although late on a busy weekend day traffic can be seriously busy) It's at the top of the hill.
It's got good pies and goodies of course but also, there's a kids trout fishing pond where a catch is almost a guarantee, a crafts fair with "stuff" for sale, but also attached is the Fudge Factory with an amazing and delicious array of fudge, candies, Caramel Apples and the hard to find and my personal favorite, real candied apples (with the red crackle candy outside)...wow good.
Then if you'd like to change it up, you can walk down a lane to Madrona winery for a taste. Good wines. And now if you'd like another taste of wine, across and down the street is Jodar Wines, which surprised me how good they are.
When time to go and want some apple butter, pies, nuts, syrups and bushels of fruit to bring home, just stop at Boa Vista on the way back down toward Placerville.
And there you have it, Apple Hill in a nutshell or a little slice of Apple....Hill.

Celebrate the magic of mountain-grown grapes and the beauty that surrounds Lava Cap Winery. Savor the taste of well-balanced wines rich with full flavor and body, vibrant fruit, crisp acidity and soft tannins. Bring a picnic and relax on the deck overlooking our vineyards.
Had a great time cooling off here in the wine tasting room on a steamy Sunday outside Placerville. Quite a retreat. Staff servers were outstanding and friendly and the wines varied all over the palate. Loved the whites and Zins so much I joined the wine club on the spot and arranged for quarterly delivery. This winery, along with others nearby, is a great place to hang out with other adults and sip delicious wine that you can NEVER get in a story. Only regret is that we ran out of time, so we'll have to return for another day in the countryside.

Crystal Basin Cellars is a circle of friends who are sharply focused on creating small batches of wines of outstanding quality. Our long-standing, world-class El Dorado grape sources complement our minimalist, handmade winemaking style to create delicious fruit-forward wines.
By far the best winery in apple hill area I have tried. This place sits behind two wineries from the street. The small shed tasting room shouldn't deter one from trying.
First notice the full room. It's like a party. Greeted promptly from the friendly staff to the party. The staff give simple description of the tasting and what it covers.
The tasting fee of 5 dollars goes to trying a good amount of the wines made by the winery. It also gets waived if purchases are made.
Tasting begins with the white and sparkling to red and dessert. The various staff member take over to pour, educate, and help the party moving. Staff was well versed on products and history of various wines. Descriptors on the menu are correctly on point. There was something for everyone. Light crisp to bold and distinct. A few award winners.
We had to call the tasting early as we had so much beverage volume before end. We enjoyed most pours.
Pricing on the most wines were on par with the other wineries in area. 20- 50. Unless you are a member of any one of their six clubs. The wine clubs are also some of the better deals. I would consider joining on next trip. This trip we purchased two bottles. Bill was settled quick.
Good: fun, attentive, friendly, delicious are some words to describe this place.
Bad: a pinch difficult to locate without getting recommendation from another local business.
A definite return.

Award-winning brewery which makes darker, thicker, English-style ales.
I have been coming to Jack Russel Brewery for years. I always end up here at the end of my Apple Hill trip to have a nice pint. They used to brew this Rasberry Stout which I loved but apparently, it is not very popular and they discontinued it. However, they have a list of very good beers to choose from. It has become quite a scene over the years and it gets quite crowded. They sell food here now on the premise and it is nice to sit here to enjoy a pint with sausage and fries after a bunch of sweets at apple orchards. Highly recommended for beer lovers.
