The mine remains closed for visits. We were very disappointed because we tried to contact the mine by email and by phone and there was no response at all. It would only be fair if there had been a recorded message on the phone telling you the visits had been suspended and also an automatic message on the email because there is nothing else to do for tourists in Calama and it's an expensive city.

Coming from Bolivia's mountain Deserts and traditional places, it is as if you return to 'civilization'. Lots of goods to get, though at a high price. Did most of my shopping at the nearby reasonably priced Jumbo supermarket. Still the mall is nice to splurge on coffee and chocolate.

My brother and I ( both more than 70 years old) toured many sites with Silvia including Chiu Chiu, Caspana, Ayquina, Pukara de Turi, the Pukara of Lasana, and the Inca Coyo all in one day. We spent the night in her hostel. Loved the...MoreNos da mucha alegría sus excelentes comentarios .

The Casino machines and attractions are ok. The service at the bar is terrible. The staff have no skills as bartenders, and they don't even know what are drinks they sell. No clue on how to prepare very basic drinks, even they have some prepared bases hidden under the bar, the outcome is poor. I have never seen the same faces, so it seems they keep hiring cheap personnel.

in terms of sight-seeing there is not much to do in Calama: it´s either dessert tour or shopping. This church (cathedral sounds like a lot more) is a small sight that you can take a quick look at - some 10-15min tops. Nothing special, but at least it is "different".

We are a company of transport of passengers with daily departures to and from Calama , San Pedro de Atacama and Toconao . We have facilities of the highest range at the forefront of security, technology and innovation.
I purchased two tickets through KTUR's website for my parents on Saturday. They went to use them today only to find out that this company has closed its doors for business but continue to collect money through online ticket sales. They have close their doors at their store front location and they won't return nor answer calls either. According to locals they have been closed for business for some time but continue to sell tickets online to scam foreigners. DO NOT BUY TICKETS from them online! My parents will now have to engage VISA to get their money back. Luckily there are other buses that regularly leave San Pedro de Atacama for Calama on a regular basis. No need to purchase tickets online from any company, wait until you are there to purchase your tickets in person to avoid this types of situations.

Nice park to walk around if you are bored of the centre. There are two nice old towers where you can walk on the top to see a nice view. Lot of kids playing around and people doing sports. I think you also can barbecue there under special picnic tables.
