Ducal Museum (Musee Ducal)

The museum is a bit confusing because it is spread over several floors of two buildings and it is easy to miss the second (lower) building which is arguably the best part. Good value because there is a combined ticket with the castle so you can take in this one on the walk back to the town. We enjoyed the bits about the families that owned the castle and especially the top floor of the lower house which is a wonderful space in the timbered loft dedicated to the iron work businesses that were in the town in the 18th and 19th centuries, a real surprise.

Semois Kayak

A trip in Kayak, Canoe or Stand up paddle : the best way to discover the Ardennes in Belgium. A nice activity to do alone or in groups (family or friends)! You can also rent pedalos.

I have no complaints with this company. Rather simple process. Reserve a kayak (or just show up and hope a kayak is available), pay in cash (cash only - no cards), and then hop in their bus to take you to the starting point. The Staff spoke English, French, Flemish, and probably other languages. I did the the 15KM, 3.5 hour, Bouillon to Poupehan route. I parked my car at the Semois Kayak site in Poupehan, then their bus drove me to the starting point in Bouillon and I then kayaked back to Poupehan. You do have the option of paying extra Euro for a container to put inside water bottles, food items, etc. that you don't want to get wet. The Semois is truly beautiful and peaceful. Note that I went in June and the water was quite low and there were a few shallow areas where I had to get out of the kayak and push/pull the kayak because the kayak got stuck on the bottom of the river. I recommend wearing water shoes/sandals and swimming attire. Lastly, I also recommend making a reservation in advance. When I showed up, there were easily more than 50 people and it appeared that most all kayaks were taken. Relax and enjoy drifting down the river in a wonderful natural setting!
