Step in the warm and welcoming world of one of Texas's best-known statesmen at this site in Bonham. A 1930s radio, photos of Franklin Roosevelt, period china and other Rayburn family treasures greet you as you stroll through the 1916 home and grounds. Fondly known as Mr. Sam, Rayburn was one of the most powerful and influential politicians in the 20th century, serving 24 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. His 1947 Cadillac, a historic smokehouse, barn, and garage complete the homestead of this true American patriot.

Fannin County Museum of History

The Fannin County Museum of History is a great place to visit for anyone interested in history. They are located in the old train depot in Bonham which is a very interesting place on its own. There are a lot of examples of everyday life mainly from the late 1800s and early 1900 and the WWII era. Some highlights are their Fire Engine, a WWII Trainer. This plainer is typical of those used at Jones Field to train pilots. Malinda and her staff are very helpful and can provide a great deal of information on the collection. They are also very interested in learning about you and your personal history. They encourage visitors to send in their personal histories and photos so that they can be archived for future generations. Admission is free.
