Concrete ship originally built by Henry Ford during WWI, now an upright wreck in 14 feet of water.
This wreck dive is unique to Bimini, It is a sunken ship that is partially out of the water. This is a great for snorkeling because it is a more shallow dive and you can see most of the coral without scuba diving. The coral is vibrant with lots of beautiful colors. I recommend swimming inside as well. When we were there people even climbed up to the top and jumped off of the wreck.

My wife and I went snorkeling with Captain Algernon and young woman tour guide whose name escapes me(she was phenomenal!) We went to the shipwreck site which was initially haunting to my wife it being her first time snorkeling. However, the crew made her completely comfortable and everything went on without a hitch. It was unbelievable and amazing!!! While we snorkeled, the Captain dove and found us fresh conch which he prepared on deck. This too was super cool and was his gift to us since we told him we were married just a few days earlier on Bimini.

We are a family operated local Bahamian business, currently located at the Bimini Big Game club, in historic Alice Town, Bimini. We have 3 custom built boats for Scuba Diving and Snorkeling. We specialize in the Big Wildlife encounters including Great Hammerheads, Spotted Atlantic Dolphins, Caribbean Reef Sharks, Southern Stingray, Blacknose Sharks, and Bottlenose Dolphins. We would love to take your family Scuba Diving or Snorkeling!
The scuba center has a laid back and friendly vibe. The hammerhead dive was a cool experience, and the crew operated professionally. Conditions were such that we only did a one tank dive. It might be good to build some flexibility into one's trip, as the dive schedules are at the mercy of the weather. I also spent some time in the shark cage right off of the scuba centers dock, and got some good video of bull sharks up close. I would definitely visit them again.

Posh resort catering to yacht lovers and fishermen.
Despite a number of downsides (and we'll get to them) I would far prefer to stay in the Bimini Big Game Resort (BBGR) than in the five star hotel to the north of the island - it's more authentic (some nice photos and prints on the walls), has friendly service, all amenities are to hand and it's prettily located on the water. And, if you like diving Neal Watson's operation is first rate and very convenient on site. The rooms are a decent size with a pleasant aspect and a good sizes Terrace, there is a coffee making facility and a room safe but no mini bar. Overall, the resort could use some tender loving care - there are maintenance issues (water on the floor of the first room we were given, electronic key didn't work, non producing ice machine) and there are infrastructure matters as well (water comes direct from the city so if pressure is low you may not have any for a while, as happened to us one morning, and the wifi coverage in the rooms is at best spotty). A potential complication for those with an early start (diving, fishing or airport run) is that the restaurant officially doesn't open first thing in the morning but, personally, we didn't have any problems getting a coffee and a bite before our various activities at 9am. We were there out of season so things were quiet. I understand that during the more popular times when boaters come across from Miami it can be a rather noisier not to say rowdier environment. Caveat emptor !

The Bimini Biological Field Station, locally known as the Bimini Sharklab, is a world renowned research facility that has been studying the sharks of Bimini for over 25 years. The Sharklab offers daily facility tours, half-day shark excursions, as well as a multi-day hands-on educational Research Experience. All programs are open to the public and must be scheduled in advance.
Interesting little spot on the south island of Bimini, there is a shark lab where about 20 people live to research and collect data on several species of sharks. The entire visit is about an hour, and you get to view juvenile lemon and nurse sharks up close. We each got to feel the skin of the sharks as well.
Overall, I felt like they do a great job in explaining the lab and the research being conducted. It was a great break on a day when weather doesn't allow water sports.

Natural rock formation or the ruined highway of the lost city of Atlantis? This long, flat stretch of limestone will have historians and geologists puzzling for years to come.
I was not impressed by the Bimini Road, maybe because it was all hyped up before I went to see it but it's really nothing spectacular, see a few rocks at the bottom of the ocean that may or may not have been a road at one time......

Staghorn and Elkhorn coral can be seen at this colorful reef.
This is the only Rainbow Reef I can find in the Bahamas. My husband and I went snorkeling with the Seastar boat at Rainbow Reef in Nassau, Bahamas a week ago. This was a great little excursion for the short period of time that we were in port. There was so much to see and explore. The waters were a little rough but they were so warm! The staff on the boat were very knowledgeable and extremely professional. They knew what they were doing and how to direct those who did not - but did it with a smile and without making you feel stupid. My husband and I are advanced snorkelers and if you are a tad bit more adventurous I would recommend swimming away from the boat to get away from all the people crowded in one spot - you tend to see more marine life when you get away from everyone. We ended up seeing an Eel and 2 stingrays. Really cool!

A 300-foot long rock formation estimated to be around 5,000-10,000 years old, now a popular diving site for adventurous divers.
We spent a week on Bimini in February, and stayed at the Bimini Sands. (Highly recommended.) Katie and Grant at their Activities Center arranged snorkeling, kayaking and fishing trips around the Islands -- including the "Stones of Atlantis / Bimini Road", a striking formation of rocks near the northern tip of the North island.
Bimini is a great place for snorkeling and scuba, with beautifully clear water, coral and brilliant schools of fish. Bimini Road is one of the best options, along with Turtle Rocks, reefs and the wreck of the Sapona. A number of professional scuba operators run fully equipped boats out the Marinas, e.g. at Bimini Sands and the Bimini Big Game Club.
You don't need scuba gear, however, to enjoy the amazing underwater beauty of Bimini. Our teen age son and his friend snorkeled and had a great time. They saw barracuda, sea turtles, leopard rays, spiny lobster, small sharks and clouds of tropical fish with every color of the rainbow. Even in February, the water is warm on the western side and in the shallows.
Highly recommended!

Established in 1993 the Dolphin House 'Poem In Stone' is a Dolphin & Ocean inspired mini museum built using recycled materials by local Bahamian (Biminite) author/historian/scholar Ashley Saunders. A popular attraction visited daily by international travelers also offers a novel gift shop for souvenir purchases. The Dolphin House is Bimini's most unique and artistic structure.
We toured Ashley's beautiful home filled with mosaics and handcrafted decorations and greatly enjoyed his stories about where all the recycled materials have come from and his plans for more construction. His gift shop and mini-museum of cultural artifacts and Hemingway memorabilia are worth some time as well. Truly a Bimini treasure.

This brightly colored coral reef is only matched by the brightly colored fish that inhabit it.
This is a dive site that runs from about 45' to 80' and is best for drift diving.
Tons of fish and you'll find Turtles, Lobsters (to deep to catch since you can only take them while snorkeling), and a shark or two. Big recommendation is to drop off at the Southern Victory location and drift into the Northern end but even if you go by it, its still a good dive. I videotaped divers from the surface that were 60 feet down and it was very clear.
