A 4 mile moderate ramble along the South West Coast Path through the Hooken Undercliff, where a dramatic landslip in 1790 provides a haven for wildlife. Returning along the clifftops above, where there are spectacular views in either direction of red cliffs soaring beyond the white, the walk links the villages of Beer and Branscombe.
One of our favourite walks. For younger children, best to leave a car in the car park at Branscombe for return to Beer if you can.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon so the area had a lovely sleepy atmosphere, whilst still being fairly busy. Beach was clean and the views spectacular.

BOOK YOUR VISIT ONLINE NOW! We’re delighted to confirm that we plan to open from Tuesday 18th May. Pecorama at Beer, one of East Devon’s leading visitor attractions, is the home to the famous PECO Model Railway Exhibition and the Beer Heights Light Railway. The Exhibition hall displays wonderfully detailed railway layouts, in many different gauges. Outdoors, a fleet of miniature steam locomotives pull passenger trains on a mile-long route through the grounds, over bridges, through steep-sided cuttings and a long, dark tunnel! Pecorama also features the Millennium Celebration Garden, a series of five celestially themed garden ‘rooms’. The individual garden names of Sun, Moon, Rainbow, Roof and Moat Garden reflect the nature and colour of the flowers, shrubs and trees found in each. Children can choose from a variety of outdoor play equipment areas whilst you sample some delights from our takeaway outlets across the site. New for 2021 – WE ARE NOW DOG FRIENDLY!
Took my 2 boys aged 6 and 8. Had no prior knowledge of this place. What a pleasant surprise! Highlights included ride on the outdoor model railway, crazy golf, large soft play facility, beautiful gardens, model railways and to top it all of, a Devon cream tea served in a beautifully restored Pullman carriage. What really made this place stand out was the staff...everyone was incredibly friendly and seemed like they were very happy to be working there.

Guided tours of vast underground caverns started by the Romans, which provided Beer stone used in 24 Cathedrals, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, and many other historic buildings. See for yourself where and how the stone was quarried, the appalling working conditions and dangers faced by the work force, some as young as 8 years old. See too, the site of the secret Catholic Chapel and where smugglers hid their contraband. 2000 years of heritage brought vividly to life
Had a great tour of Beer quarry and caves, we have been before when the kids were younger, and returned this year. Excellent way to spend an hour below ground, very informative and knowledgeable tour guide, whitty, and some fascinating local stories that draw you right in. Temperature is around 7° so you need a coat or jumper and sensible footwear, hard hat is supplied, and cleaned with Covid in mind. Nice little cafe for a coffee, and portaloo toilets In the car park. Overall this is a brilliant tour for young and old. Love this place.

Beer Beach is quite large and rock pools can be explored at low tide, it is popular with swimmers, Paddle boarders, canoeists, motor boats and fishing trips, a walk down the ramp from the high street and the beach opens out - wow what a beautiful place to be- especially in the sun - Beer always seems so warm with its own micro climate. Heaven !!!
