Caramoor is a performing arts center located on a unique 90-acre setting of Italianate architecture and gardens in Westchester County, NY. It enriches the lives of its audiences through innovative and diverse musical performances of the highest quality. Its mission also includes mentoring young professional musicians and providing educational programs for young children centered around music. Audiences are invited to come early to explore the beautiful grounds, tour the historic Rosen House, enjoy a pre-concert picnic, and discover beautiful music in the relaxed settings of the Venetian Theater, Spanish Courtyard, Music Room of the Rosen House, and the magnificent gardens.
The house is intriguing, with many of the rooms and their furnishings taken from Italian castles and chateaus and built into the house. Quite incredible. The gardens are lovely as well and the concerts can be exceptional, with a choice of venues to suit the music and the size of the audience,

We went on a busy day, as Grand Prix was having a special event for families with disabled children. I mistakenly booked a reservation for the wrong times, and only realized upon arrival. Carol, the manager at the front desk checked with Mike, the track supervisor, and they accommodated us by opening a track up just for us! That by itself was "above and beyond". To top things off, Mike took my 11 year-old for a few private "lead and follow" rounds to make sure that he understood the safety rules and how to operate the go-kart before we started. Wow.
I would highly recommend Grand Prix as a great place for family fun. They are clean, friendly, and very safety-conscious. In addition to the safety video, Rob reiterated the rules, and got us buckled in with helmets and neck braces.
We all had a great time, and look forwards to going back. They also have an arcade and bowling (we did the arcade, not the bowling) so you can plan to be there for a few hours.

This 234-acre former estate is known for its fine gardens.
This is an estate bought by the County for the public's enjoyment. Has a veteran's memorial there. Main house is still being remodeled, but the grounds are beautiful, with lots of paths, trails and large lawns on which to picnic or just let kids run around.

Turkey Mountain Preserve / Trail is nothing but dirt walking trails created by people who have never ventured outside of the county to experience real forests.
This place has been destroyed by yuppies who cry anytime the park is utuilized. No hunting, fishing offroading, camping, as it is surrounded by an urban-surburban area.

Teatown Lake Reservation's mission is to inspire our community to lifelong environmental stewardship. We realize our mission through environmental education, stewardship of Teatown's preserve, and regional conservation of the Hudson Hills and Highlands. At the center of all our endeavors is teamwork and partnership, because nature conservation and environmental health are possible only when people and their communities work together for the common good. The Teatown team is made of our members, donors, volunteers, board, staff and program participants. Our successes are only possible because of their hard work and dedication to our mission. In addition, we seek collaborations with other organizations and businesses who share our vision.
Great place for a walk or longer hike Favorite is the Hidden Valley Trail. Many diverse sections that will make your walk entertaining. Beware of some steep elevation changes Plenty of parking and not particularly crowded, this is definitely a local go to place

WCC raises wolves in a protected setting in the hopes they can be reintroduced into the wild. They regularly run educational programs with their ambassador wolves that are used to appearing in public. The center also maintains an internet/Facebook presence with photographs and recordings of their elusive residents.
A very worthy recipient of contributions if you love wildlife.

First visit to Mianus River Gorge. It is a well kept nature preserve. There are three trails from which to choose which could be hiked separately or in a combination. The trails meanders, ascending and descending, with plenty of tree roots and rocks in trail. Made for an interesting hike.
Looking forward to returning to try different trails.

The food is always good and the service efficient and friendly. You will be pleased whether you order a burger, fish or a hearty Neapolitan specialty. The bar is usually crowded.
The place itself is very rustic and noisy but that adds to the charm. If you are looking for a romantic evening this is not the place. But if you are looking for a good meal or an unpretentious place to have a few drinks then this is the place.

This park has everything we need: a paved road next to a stream for jogging on. Wooded trails for hiking on (and taking dogs on walks). Big playground for little kids. Nice tennis courts. Multiple ball fields. Two community pools. And a Chinese pavilion on a pond for watching the (millions) of geese. A perfect little town park.
