This is a must see on Barichara. Brave women working their craft, the highest quality paper ever. In this place you can see the whole process and how these women turn natural fibers into paper. They also design and make paper jewelry, note books and many other things. They are organized in a Not for Profit Foundation that also works with children from the Barichara region to teach them skills on paper making among other. Great work, high social impact and environmentally efficient methods. Not to miss.

Coffee plantation and farm in Barichara-Santander. Our coffee tour gives you the opportunity to visit the plantation and the centennial forest where its heart is, and understand a bit of baricharas culture. After a visit to our coffee factory you will try our coffee with different artisan local products like bread jams arepas cheeses and our own coffee in different tasting techniques. 90.000 cop per person adult, kids under 7 don’t pay.
Esperanza’s passion for coffee made us understand the complete process of sustainable coffee making. We’re thankful for having been invited into their home for lunch. Mister Jorge is instrumental in explaining the history of the plantation and the art of coffee tasting. Thank you both for that incredible experience.

Camino real is a great hike from Barichara to Guane, 5.1 miles, mostly down, clean, safe, well marked. About half an hour before the end there is a house where cold drinks are sold, just when you most need them! Views from the valley are great. Once in Guane, you can take the bus back to Barichara. The town is simple with a Church and a garden square. Take water, a hat and sunscreen for the hike.

I was immediately drawn to this small chapel upon seeing it ‘up the road’. ..and it didn’t disappoint! The floor of the chapel is actually slanted and the pews built to accommodate it. Great photo op from inside looking out.....and the history written on the wall inside...in Spanish.

Seriously...the Barichara cemetery is a must visit while you are in Barichara. All of the headstones are beautifully carved by master carvers. It is absolutely serene early in the morning. Recommend visiting in the early morning or late afternoon for the best light.

check this church out! many people just take photos from the exterior but if you walk inside you’ll notice how well maintained it is! the tile floor and the ceiling are both in great shape. it’s clear that not only the houses but the main church is beloved in barichara. tip: go up to see the capilla de sta. barbara at the high point in town and capture great views of this cathedral’s profile amidst the characteristic tile roofs of the town’s houses.
