A well established surf school offering 2 classes everyday ( around 10h30 & 16h00 - depending on the tides) with qualified instructors. Classes are small and focused providing tuition for beginner, intermediate and advanced level surfers. Equipment rental and accommodation is also available.
If you are an "intermediate" surfer it can be hard to find the right place to go to get classes you really benefit from.
In contrast to the other plentiful surf schools in the Peniche region -which mostly resemble factory farming- the atmosphere at the Drop Surf Center is familiar without lack of professionalism.
Working on turns/cut backs/floaters, simply your posture, improving paddling techniques or understanding the different surf spots and their breaking zones/channels everything in theory on the land as well as in the water using video analysis and the constantly attentive eyes of Nelson made me really improve my Surfing!
Depending on the conditions you can be sure to surf in the best spot there is for that exact day and the things you want to learn. He constantly motivates you to take more waves, work on yourself and believe in your own strength -not the sitting around behind the waves like in the other "advanced" classes you see a lot. At the same time it's really fun being in the water together.
The all in all really small groups were well selected so that no one remains behind his or her potential. I had so much "standing time" -the only possibility to really start getting better once you left the white water- and I am glad to have surfed so many nice waves.
I am really happy that I dropped in the other day and got to know Nelson as well as the rest of the friendly team. It really enriched my time in Baleal.
I am sure I will come back to the Peniche region -and one of the reasons is that I know how quickly I can improve my Surfing with a couple of lessons at Drop.

Stunning, very natural, not over taken by the usual sun beds restaurants. Very friendly people good English speaking, clean, can be windy, and can be hilly, depending where you stay, we were at the far end of Foz, supermarket was 30 min walk, a car not essential as taxi was easily obtained.

Beautiful beach for young and old. Ocean side or Lagoon side, you choose. The lagoon side is safe for kids and the ocean side is heavy and challenging

Was in Portugal for 3 weeks this summer. I love this beach!!!!! It's spacious and beautiful!!!! Parking gets busy as the day goes on but you can normally get parking at least on the street. The beach can get busy but not overcrowded. The tide can come up so be careful if you set up close to the water.

This is a few min drive from Peniche, a coastal road driving next to the coast sculpted by the sea and wind. There are not many spots open but several closed and in ruin fishing houses and, at the end a light house. Although there is no much to do a ride with a few stops is worthwhile.

Alex is an awesome person, I highly recommend Alex surf classes. His staff is very kind and polite. Alex has everything somebody need, Hostel, Surf school, Surf Store, and the best... his backyard is the ocean in Baleal - Peniche. He can easily adjust surf lessons for people to all ages, from kinds to old school, from beginners to intermediary and advanced surfers, this because Alex surfs in Peniche for more than 20 years. Well everything is perfect, organized and tidy. You will feel like home in Alexsurcschool.

A yoga center offering guidance Hatha and Ashtanga practices. Also offering massage, Ayurvedic, Thai and Indian Head massage and the following therapies:ReikiReflexologyAccupunctureAll welcome - Namaste
Had only ever done a couple online yoga classes so am a complete novice, class was full but instructor tentative to individuals needs/restrictions.
Class was 1 hour 20 mins which flew by, always thought a yoga class would bore me but this was just what i needed to destress from my Surfing and general overactive mind!
€12 class would defo recommend a class or 2 if in baleal for a Surfing hol.

We visited the fort one evening before dinner. We didn't have time for the museum (in fact I am not sure it was even open) but just wandering around the building itself (which it seemed we could do free of charge) was enjoyable and atmospheric. The thickness of the walls up on the ramparts is truly something to behold!
