Leopold II had this unusual rail station built as a neo-Baroque monument to the railway age in 1905.
Although an operating railway station the out and inside are worth a visit for its monumental grandeur. A late 19th. century with beautiful facade and a majestic interior. Look at the marble floors in the main hall, all made out of Belgian marble. Look up inside to the dome. A must do is have a coffee in the cafetaria (or foyer), when you walk in from the front go up the stairs and take a right. Beautifull interior, like a time capsule. The level ground platforms have an impressive glasshouselike ceiling. In the late 20th. century extensive works were carried out such as a tunnel underneath and a shopping centre in excavated levels without disturbing the main historical structure.

The cathedral can be seen from miles! It is truly an amazing tall building dominating Mechelen’s skyline. At one end of the main square, the church rises above the splendid architecture of both private and public buildings, including the city hall and others. The interior is equally impressive with a number of chapels decorated with wonderful paintings and sculptures. Mechelen is not as visited as other Belgian cities, but it is truly one of the most beautiful towns in Europe but without the hordes of travelers and visitors. When we visited St. Rumbold, there was a haunting exhibition of the stations of the cross juxtaposed with pictures of WWI. Truly moving. When in Mechelen, I highly recommend a visit to the cathedral and if you have time, go up the tower and enjoy the views.

With roots going back to 1471, Het Anker is one of Belgium’s oldest breweries, a harmonious blend of old and new in an authentic, historic building. At the same time, visitors can discover the maturing stocks of Gouden Carolus Single Malt, Belgium’s only brewery whiskey. You can visit the brewery as a group or on one of the guided tours: a) Groups of minimum 10 and maximum 25 people upon reservation. b) Guided tours, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11am; up to 4 persons you do not need to book in advance. Price: €7,20 per person, which includes the guided tour and a tasting of2 Gouden Carolus beers.
We did both the brewery and distillery tours, about 3 hours together, and both guides were fun and knowledgeable. Fascinating insight into the processes and history of beer and whiskey made here, and to taste some of them was nice! Prices in the gift shop and restaurant are reasonable too, so we stopped for a beer and bought some to take home. Had a great time visiting this!

Kazerne Dossin is a modern museum next to the actual building in which jews and other minorities were detained before being transported to concentration camps. The museum has a very broad explanation of the events which happened in Belgium and the rest of Europe. There is a lot of text, so make sure you have a couple of hours in order to read. You will probably recognize something, but you will most likely learn something. The stories presented in the exhibition are sad and brutal. On the top floor you can walk out on the balcony for a view of Mechelen.

When you enter the Central Place(Grote Markt) in Mechelen, you seem to be walking into history. In the shadow of the old St-Rombouts Tower(Cathedral), you will notice immediately the ancient buildings that breathe nostalgy. You can enjoy the nice restaurants or visit the cit hall with a guided Tour. Of course, this tour is not limited to the Centre only. Climbing the Cathedral's stairs and enjoying the whole City of Mechelen is a ream pleasure. Mechelen is ranked top 10 worldwide in the "Best Future Cities".

Tickets sell out almost instantaneously for Tomorrowland, thanks to its reputation as one of the world’s biggest celebrations of electronic music, playing host to performances from techno to house, dance to trance. Now in its 11th year and notorious for its 15 wackily decorated stages and hypnotic lightshows, the festival is held in Boom, near Antwerp, and attracts a laid-back crowds of tens of thousands.
This was my second time to Tomorrowland, and I loved it just as much as the first time! I last went in 2017 and stayed in Magnificent Greens camping which was brilliant! Meet heaps of new people, only thing is you gotta pay for warm showers etc but it's hot enough just use the cold ones outside. 2019 I went with my partner, met up with our friends from Brisbane Australia, Canada, and the UK, aswell as meeting again with other groups of friends we made the previous time from the USA and Dubai! 2019 we upgraded our accommodation and went with the Easy Tent area, with pre set up tents and mattresses etc and our own shower/toilet areas and a shorter walk to the gate. People did have trouble with tent break ins etc but fortunately we didn't have this issue, and we also had an on-site locker where we kept most of our stuff except the clothes and toiletries we were using. The food and drink options both in the festival gates and in the Marketplace are amazing with options from all different country cuisines. They also have the option of hair and makeup services for you to have done too. Then there is the festival... unlike any other experience, performers and a acrobats around every turn, amazing stage designs and detail, the world's best DJs and more stages than you know what to do with. Hot tip is on Day 1; go as soon as the gates open, walk around and see every stage and really take it in as there is so much to see. Then at least you see it before getting caught up in the magic as by the end of day 3 you realize you only saw 4 stages out of all of them. Everyone is super lovely, happy to help out and all there for the same reason, the music, the atmosphere, and to dance together. Incomparable to anything else I've experienced, made new friends every time, and look forward to the next one! Live Today, Love Tomorrow, Unite Forever
