The Chinese name for this place is “Bamboo Sea” and it’s not difficult to see why when you look down from the top. It’s indeed a sea of bamboo trees! Anji is about 3 hours by driving from Shanghai and it’s a nice place for a retreat from the busy city life. Come to the bamboo forest for clean fresh air. This is the venue where Lee Ang filmed Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Climb all the way to the top where the view is beautiful. Probably a 30 to 45 minutes climb. At the peak, you can pay 80 rmb to cross the forest via a glass bridge that’s a few hundred meters long. You can also choose to descend via luge. We, like most, chose to walk down.
