The Algarve's sunny shores offer perfect escapes for all types, from those seeking the hot nightlife of flashy, energetic Lagos to those desiring secluded stays in rambling Sagres. Portugal's most southerly region offers historical attractions in former Moorish capital Silves and fascinating Tavira, great golf, fabulous beaches from Praia da Luz to Armacao de Pera, thermal springs at Caldas de Monchique, and miles of limestone caves and grottoes, cliffs and bays along its rugged coastline.

Boat trip is the best way to explore the very beautiful Atlantic coastline in Lagos - very beautiful caves and grottos reflected in transparent emerald water versus terracotta cliffs. Highly recommended as a trip - the guides are very friendly and happy to tell the story of the place

Never been to the Algarve, never been to Vilamoura. Only new it for Marina, golf & where footballers of the 80/90s hung out! So pleasantly surprised to find one of the best kept archeological sites we have visited, and we have visited a few! ( just ask the kids????) For only €3 per person you are given free range to walk around the dig site & small museum. The Roman bath unearthed is probably the best seen outside of Bath in terms of not being a pile of stones!!

Set in a former sardine processing factory, the museum is divided into two areas. One half tells the history of Portimao from prehistory to modern times. The other half explains the processes involved in the sardine canning industry, using the actual equipment and location where it all happened. English captions throughout, and good use of video to make production stages clear. Also houses temporary display space, and good cafe/restaurant. Check out the joint ticket arrangements with other local historical sites, and note that there is free entrance on Sundays.

This is a wonderful day out. Park along the front by the market that is also worth visiting. Buy a return ticket to Farol on the island for just over 4 Euros. Get off at Culatra stop after a 30 minute attractive trip across the lagoon then walk through the village across the boardwalk to the beach. You can then walk through the surf for an hour on the beautiful beach towards the lighthouse where there is a chilled out beach bar called Maramais with great views over the beach. Here there are great drinks and snacks - the sandwiches are huge. You can hire sun beds if you wish. Then a ten minute walk down to the jetty and a lovely boat trip back. The 11am out to Culatra and the 4pm back from Farol runs all year. See timetable in photos.

The day began by getting a ferry from Tavira to Tavira island 2 euro each return, on arrival at the island we were greeted with miles and miles of sandy beach, there was bars and restaurants along the beach, the only thing to be aware of is that there were nudist bathing on the beach, not sure if this is common practise as there was no signs anywhere displaying nudist beach.

Small beach, hidden behind the hills, just outside Albufeira. Hard to get without car. Small, great soft sand, and some interesting rock cliffs. Couple arches, visible at low tide, and nice panoramic view from the top.

Great beach with spactacular caves and cliffs. On beach you can buy ticket to visit Algarve caves and beaches by boat.

I find the Algarve beautiful and this particular section is breathtaking. The trail is right on top of the cliffs and there is unimpeded view of the ocean, skies and some beach resorts. Absolutely breathtaking! Don’t miss out exploring the coves and beaches. Golden rocks and cliffs, turquoise blue waters, sandy beaches ... you might just want to stay forever.

Enjoy an interactive zoo with activities for the entire family ! In the PETTING FARM interact with and feed dwarf goats , llamas and deer , this area is the life of the party for children and adults! In TERRA EXOTIKA are several species , and it is possible to interact with some such as african spur turtles , birds which will feed from your hands in the aviary, and the lemurs . To top it off, the biggest snake in Europe, with 8.50 meters ! After the visit to the animals enjoy lunch at the restaurant , viewing one of the many presentations with animals , and maybe relax with a refreshing swim in the swimming pool with water slide. For those who still have energy to spare there are various activities such as tree climbing, pedal karts , inflatables, pony rides , and the mega 18 hole mini golf circuit. For colder or rainy days there is a large indoor area with restaurant , inflatable bouncy castle and stage for animal presentations . A fun filled day for the entire family !
Went to this place the other day. Perfect place for kids with animals to see and feed, activities and swimming pool what more could you want. They have a playground and a kart place where older kids can ride around I saw. My child not older enough for that yet next time when we come back. We had the chance to feed birds and the tortoise which is a good experience and great that you don’t have to pay extra most places you go to will charge you. The swimming pool was nice a good size baby pool and 2 adult size pools. So enough room for everyone. They also have a little slide you can go down. The restaurant was good great choice of options for everybody and decent prices as well. They also have mini golf. We didn’t try out not with our young child so that’s another thing to do when we return. Highly recommend this place and it’s not expensive for ticket.
