14th-century Walled Section
This time of year was wonderful to visit because it was not crowded and you could stroll unencumbered and soak it in. Be sure to walk up on top of the wall and visit the bull ring too, Exceptionally clean streets. A lovely afternoon.

We were staying in Port de Pollensa and due to disappointing beach there, took the bus several days to enjoy this beach - it was beautiful, clear water, some shallow areas and a fun trampoline/inflatables park for kids (at a lower cost than PP). Loved swimming here, the beach area was pretty packed and noisy, so not a relaxing place but definitely loved the water.

A lovely place to take a stroll at any time of the day, although we did tend to go just before dinner each night. Lovely views across the bay in peaceful, pleasant surroundings. The water was so clear and clean - one evening we even saw a large octopus near the sea wall.

I did choose the Platja des Coll Baix because of description that it is beautiful, quiet and tranquil beach with no crowds even in the high tourist season. It was therefore surprise to see many cars going in the same direction on the tiny road (Carrer de la Muntaña), which leads nowhere, except for this beach. The road was really bad, not only in holes, but really destroyed at some spots. After leaving the car on some small rocky patch next to the road (because there were nearly no parking places, and cars were parked on every smallest patch adjacent to the road), we went the rest of the road up to the mountain. After reaching the top, we saw that there are several smaller and larger ships and motorboats within the bay. So it was obvious that the small beach just can't be deserted as described in booklets. For me the hiking itself was O.K., but I would advise to think over before going there. And, if you go, be prepared - wear good hiking foot-wear and take with you some water.

We walked into Alcudia from our villa (which took about an hour!), ended up near the main gate and decided to take a closer look. You can walk round part of the walls/ramparts and some areas have been heavily restored. It's not quite the same as walking round York city ramparts but interesting all the same. There are QR scanner points if you want to know a bit more detail/history of what you're looking at - interesting but the voice is a bit robotic. Through the gates is the old town with it's many tourist shops and cafes.

Stunning views over the whole area and coastline.
We went on an organised tour stopping at the viewing point for 30 minutes and then onto Formentor for time on the beach, returning to puerto pollensa by boat. If I did this again I would take a taxi for less than 20 euros to Formentor and pay for a single return on one of the boats.

Heavenly. Wide and long beach. No one can groan about this place it's stunning. Plenty of space. Walkway and path. 6 miles of beach to enjoy. Highly recommended.

remains of a Roman city
For many reasons, the Majorcan's have lost about 98% of their Roman history, partly due to the additional history of it's proceeding conquerors, but mainly under the hooves of tourist appeasement - ie; hotels etc. Here, they have decided to allow said tourists to wander freely about these fabulous remains. The downside (in this traveller's humble opinion), is that much of it is going to get ruined literally by the unrestricted footfall of many unsupervised sightseers. The "museum" is really just one room which houses very little in the way of relics, but is free for those who've paid to see the remains, and on the plus side does have toilet facilities.

Hundreds of birds flock to this wildlife preserve, making it a great place to go bird watching.
We visited this park twice recently, the first time getting enormously wet due to a thunderstorm of mythical proportions. We didn't do the 11k walk either time but saw a great variety of birds, including an osprey and various water birds on two of the other routes. The hides are well positioned for photography over the wetlands. There is minimal parking and that is over a k from the information centre. If that parking is full there are plenty of other places to park if you look around. I can understand why they would be reluctant to make car parking on the reserve. it's a nature reserve for nature not a car park.
