This 1,200-acre park was once the estate of William Neal Reynolds, brother of tobacco businessman R.J. Reynolds. The Reynolds willed the Tanglewood property to the citizens of Forsyth County to share as a public recreational park. The combination of its streams, woodlands, and grassy pastures with the traditions of its architecture, horses, gardening, and wide range of recreational activities make Tanglewood an ideal countryside park to visit over and over again.
Our tour company brings a motorcoach group to the Tanglewood Festival of Lights every holiday season. This event never disappoints. Our group always enjoys the event. The traffic is very reasonable on a weekday, the lights are well done and always creates excitement as we drive through with 45 people on our motorcoach. Highly recommend this attraction for groups and families.

Until Joe and Joyce Neely purchased the property, RayLen Vineyards & Winery functioned as a dairy farm for nearly a century. Today, the rolling hills and winding drive romance our guests as they drive through 35,000 European-varietal grape vines. The distinctive cupola roof top of RayLen Vineyards & Winery is a beacon for the southern portion of the Yadkin Valley Appellation. Travelers from the highway and wanderers from the surrounding country roads are drawn to the tasting room to discover a new experience. Loyal customers return for the lush vista and a reliable favorite of vintner Steve Shepard's award-winning wines.
RayLen has some of the best wines in our area. They average on the sweet side, which we like. We've been multiple times and the people are always so nice. It's a great place to relax and it has lots of covered outdoor seating. If you like their wine as much as we do, join their "case club" and you'll receive extra perks for purchasing a case.

An Intro Flight Lesson with an FAA Certified Flight Instructor is the best way to taste the exhilaration of powered hang gliding or "trike" flying. Intro flight lessons are aimed at letting you experience the feel of flying. We'll teach you the basics of powered hang gliding during your flight, and you'll leave not only with some real "hands-on" piloting time, but memories you'll never forget.
Todd Halver at Papa Tango Aviation gave me a great introduction to powered hang gliding. Both his joy of flying and his concern for safety were obvious throughout the introductory flight. Starting with the pre-flight inspection of the powered hang glider--what Todd called a trike--it was clear Todd knows his stuff. He explained how the trike operates and how the pilot controls it, While small is size, it is a real aircraft. Before we took off he previewed the flight for me, explaining what we would be doing. But that didn't really prepare me for the actual experience of take-off and flight...it was much more than I expected! The views were amazing. After flying for a while to give me a feel of the trike Todd explained how the controls worked, and I had the opportunity to do some straight flight and several turns. His instructions were clear and encouraging Steering is not as physically demanding as I thought it would be, but I quickly realized it requires skill to do well. Needless to say I left the landing up to Todd...and it was as smooth as any commercial flight I've been on.
I now understand the appeal of this kind of flying. I imagine it is similar to what pilots experienced in the early years of flying. Wonderful!

I spent the day in Lexington and this was the first stop! The winery is beautiful, even in the dead of winter. Had lunch at the Bistro then, the wine tasting.
I agree with other reviewers, it is a little confusing! You enter a magnificent structure and then wander around on your own. A greeter would be nice or the gift shop employees need to step up their game and explain that the wine tasting is in the same space if you are interested. They do none of that.
We did enjoy the wine tasting. That was the best part of the visit. Inconvenient to pay first for tasting; then head to the register again if you want to purchase.
Even with an average experience overall, I would like to return in the spring, grounds look to be stunning. Very much enjoyed spending time in town.

For a small admission fee you will be transported back in time to when Dale Sr was still racing. The old race shop has been converted into a museum FULL of Dale Sr & other Hendrick cars, trophies and Wildlife Conservation Museum. Get there when it opens for a chance to meet Danny "Chocolate" Myers (Dale's gasman) before he goes on the air for his Sirius/Xm NASCAR Radio show "Trading Paint". The shop has a 2nd floor glass hallway viewing area for the team haulers and team garages where you can see them getting the cars ready for the next race.

We make Cookies. But at our Bakery we don’t manufacture cookies, we create them. We make about 100,000 lbs. of Moravian Cookies a year and every cookie is made by hand using a rolling pen & a cookie cutter. There are about 100 cookies in a lb., so that is ten million cookies cut out one by one using only a cookie cutter. We are a family business comprised of 7th, 8th & 9th generation Moravians & our recipe is a secret family recipe that has been handed down for generations. I don’t think there is another company in the world like my bakery. Not only are our cookies made in North Carolina, we are made by hand in North Carolina. Come before 2:30 PM M-F to watch our cookies being made at our special viewing window and enjoy tasty samples of our 6 different flavors. Tours are given but you must call to scheduled in advance. There is a $4.00 charge per person
We arrived too late in the day for a tour, but Holly was more than happy to tell us the cookie making process. We sampled all the flavors. We love the ginger and also the lemon flavors. Mrs. Hanes cookies has been a lifelong memory for my husband.

My boyfriend took me to this winery as part of my present and we had a great tasting of the sweet wines. I was surprised at how many of the wines I loved since I normally only like a few from most tastings! This made deciding which one to get difficult so we got about 6-8 bottles!
I think my favorite was the placid peach and strawberry. We wandered around the vineyard afterwards. Staff were friendly.
I was disappointed that the price per bottle is the same at the vineyard as In most local grocery stores but wether buying from vineyard or store you'll love their wines if you lean towards sweet whites or rieslings.

We go here at least twice a month. There is plenty of room to grill out and have a picnic. There is even some nice playground equipment for younger children. While the walking trails are not exceptionally long, they are clear and offer a nice walk through the woods.
