Reached from Mumbai to Kudal by train and connecting bus to Malvan which is about 30 km away. Another bus for Devbag which is about 10 km away. The name Tarkarli is derived from the river Karli which flows in the area. Tar means the river side. Every house here is involved directly or indirectly with tourism industry. Most families have built few rooms for the tourists to occupy- home stay. They prepare home food and serve to the tourists. Beach cottages plentiful. Here people are very good and helpful. Beach is neat and clean with sea water transparent. Hotels here want the customers to book food in advance and then they prepare for the order, there by serving you fresh food. Choice of food is generally limited. Few hotels like Coastal Galaxy has good food choices. One can enjoy water sports at Tsunami island which is reachable by ferries which charge about Rs 500 for the cruise. They take you around for half an hour's journey showing you the Dev sangam the mingling of sea and the river. Here on Tsunami island one can take various rides like Water skiing, banana ride, sofa ride etc for Rs 200 each or package of Rs 500 for three rides. There is also provision for para sailing and scuba diving for which charges are about Rs 800 and Rs 1000 respectively. Walk on the Devbaug beach is very pleasant. One can safely go in the water and enjoy neat and clean water. It's so transparent that you can see the sand below. Sunset scene here is magnificent. One can enjoy the sunrise scene at Tarkarli beach which is about 3 km from Devbaug. Here various camel and horse rides are available. Coconut trees are plentiful. Coconut water here is much sweeter than what one gets in Mumbai. Sindhudurg fort can be reached from Malvan. For reaching it, one has to take a small boat ride which charges Rs 90 per head. Rock garden at Malvan is nicely managed. It's worth a visit. Good time to visit is December January. At Malvan one can enjoy the local delicacy Malvan Khaja. It is vary tasty and has mild sweetness and ginger. Malvan fish dishes are great. Doelkars spices shop is popular and one can take home malvani spices and other delicacies.

This is to warn visitors about caretaker's fraud but before that the good part. Its a rare chance to visit top of lighthouse, offers excellent 360* view of sea and surrounding from top of lighthouse. New step way from with proper lighting has been constructed from the road to the top. However the negative thing is that the caretaker - he sits just before the lighthouse entrance and says entry fees is Rs 20 per person to go to the top. We thought it is official and paid Rs 100 for 5 of us and in the excitement went inside to the top of lighthouse. Later we realised that he didnot give us any official receipt nor we saw any notice board anywhere intimating such fees. On the way down , we met another local tourist group and asked them whether they also were charged. They said no but indirectly indicated that this is common scam for outside tourists as they easily accept and least likely to complain. So beware of this scam. There is no official charge for entry.

Vijaydurg Fort, Vijaydurg, Konkan, Maharashtra, India. Build by Kanhoni Angre, Tulaji Angre, Sambhaji Angre deservingly own the pride of building this majestic fort overlooking Arabian Sea. This was one of the cleanest and calm beach not very far from Goa. When we visited calangute beach many agents approached us for booking a trip to Malvan for water sports and scuba diving. They offered us 2200 RS per person for trip to Malvan with breakfast, lunch, water sports, scubaand transport.Thankfully we thought that we would book it through out hotel. Our manager suggested us to go to shiroda instead since Malvan is 3 hours one way and not very clean. We were offered 2000 RS per person package. Our bus arrived at 7:30 am at our hotel. And in exactly 50 minutes we were at the pristine place called Shiroda. Our transport and arrangements were by shubh travels. We had a quick breakfast. The a boat took us in the middle of see where all water sports activities were conducted. It was full fun. Clean water and experience trainers. Beach was calm with no one else but us and people to help us with water sports. We enjoyed banana boat, jetski, para sailing Our scuba experience was also great. After completing our water sports activity we took a both there in bathrooms arranged by t Shubh travels. After that we has sumptuous but simple food at silver sands facing the beach. Took some photographs by the beach and started back to our hotel. We did not want to leave this place. By 4pm we were at the hotel with ample time to spend on shopping and Baga visit.

This amazing beach extends 10 kilometers till the peninsula. One the cleanest beach i have ever visited in the Konkan. Amazing view with dolphins surfing by is a common sight in the morning hours. If you are fond authentic Malvani cuisine, you have many home stays to cater to this craving ad well. To satisfy the adventurous Dennis within, a variety of watersports can be tried. Being a very clean beach, you can also play football which is really an amazing experience. In case you opt for a night stay in any of the multiple homestays just next to the beach, you can even sit and gaze at the clear nightsky or enjoy the moonlit sea till late in the night. Being an almost private beach you are all on your own.
