The Capitol Centre is a not-for-profit organization providing arts and entertainment opportunities, and contributing to the development of performing and visual arts in North Bay and the region of Northeastern Ontario. It is housed in the building originally known as the Capitol Theatre. This multi-use facility was purchased from Famous Players and then renovated to house a 1000-seat proscenium theatre and the WKP Kennedy Gallery. The Capitol Centre is the jewel in the very center of the Northeast. Patrons visit the Capitol Centre from as far away as Cochrane and Timmins to the North and Muskoka to the South. It is home to the North Bay Symphony String School and a number of artists who have studios on the renovated second floor. Our various building spaces are wheelchair accessible thanks to the installation of an elevator only a few years ago. In addition, the theatre is equipped with a Phonic Ear System and a Quiet Room for use during performances. The community looks to the Centre staff for guidance and assistance in producing and presenting exciting community theatre and events. Community theatre groups that utilize the facilities include Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre, TOROS (Theatre Outreach on Stage) and Rep 21. The RBC Galaxy Circle Lounge, Martini Lounge and WKP Kennedy Gallery are sought after for meetings, lectures, presentations, weddings, and parties. Live performances, art exhibits, camps, movies and special events fill the calendar and there are always new events added.
The Capitol Centre is an entertainment centre in downtown North Bay. I have been to many concerts all the way back to Dan Hill and Roy Orbison and recently, Colin James and Burton Cummings. They also have many tribute acts—to the Beatles, Supertramp, ABBA and many, many more. There are also comedy acts like Colin Mochrie and Ron James. Seats are great and the sound is excellent. There is often a bar depending on the show but always a canteen serving soft drinks and treats. The Capitol Centre is supported by volunteers and donors. A great entertainment venue for North Bay.

My wife and I visited North Bay in July 2020 and were looking for things to do when so many attractions were closed due to Covid-19. We decided to visit Duchesnay Falls, a short drive outside of the city, and were very impressed with the area. The trails are well marked and you definitely get some exercise climbing from one level of the falls to the next one. It was a hot day, but fortunately the whole area is well shaded. We definitely recommend visiting this area.

What a lovely treasure in North Bay, my family (husband/2 teens) really enjoyed taking a stroll along the boardwalk, seeing all of the boats and admiring the views from the beach. Water is very clean, and beach is as well and not overly crowded. Great backdrop for pictures/selfies. Chip truck in the parking lot, what else could you ask for on a lovely summer evening.

This shopping mall is North Bay's second and largest mall. It is very accessible to Highway 11 which runs right past it on the way north and south. There are a great number of clothing, shoe, jewelry, gift stores, plus electronics, health and fitness, book stores, hair and nail salons, to mention just a few. The Walmart is a large box store which is a favourite of many. The food court is fairly extensive with enough variety to suit most palates. It is clean and bright so if you like walking, you can get a little exercise at the same time as you amble along.
