Waterrock Knob is part of the Plott Balsams mountain range in western North Carolina. At mile marker 451.2 on the Blue Ridge Parkway there is a great stop with a National Park Service Visitor Center that is open seasonally. It features a large parking lot with great views all around, restrooms and hiking trails. We enjoy hiking so we took the trail to the top but the view isn’t any better from what you see in the parking lot. It is paved for the first half and then turns to a dirt trail. The trail isn’t overly technical but I wouldn’t wear flip flops. It is also pretty steep; especially the paved part. The summit of the trail is 6,273 feet above elevation and is the highest point on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The visitor center is small but has a station for stamping a NPS passport, maps, an assortment of gifts and food and drink. There are also displays about the area and wildlife. We picked up Junior Ranger packets for the kids to complete. Waterrock Knob is a great stop on the Parkway and was one of the highlights of our trip.

In the Heart of Maggie Valley - Don't miss Maggie's own little rock shop. A real gem, pardon the pun, is a great place to find that special treasure you've been looking for. Gem stones, Jewelry or try your hand at gem mining.
I was very surprised at the amount of gems that I got from the gem mine doing the sifting area. they actually stayed open a half an hour later for us just because we were looking around and we weren't running a little late and we didn't realize that they were closing. Very friendly and very knowledgeable staff here I would definitely recommend this if you are definitely into gems and rocks and stones for healing.

One of the most beautiful waterfall areas we have ever visited! Will have to go back when we have more time and can go down to the water.

I and 7 friends played golf here after a picnic dinner at the pavilion. It was fun and staff were very friendly. Neat putt putt golf layout with interesting holes and a challenge too. I came in next to last but had a great time.

We have two 18-hole championship courses for lots of family fun! Enjoy the old rusty truck, the windmills, the lighthouse and so much more as you play.
Have always enjoyed playing this course, it is what I would call a skills course design versus the luck shot courses of modern era putt putts. Go, putt, and enjoy.

My sister has been dancing for over 60 years and taught dancing for probably 40 of those in Laurinburg , North Carolina . She learned to Clog in the old traditional mountain style from some locals back in the day and taught it for years and also competed with her team and teams from her school . In 2013 she was inducted into The America's Clogging Hall of Fame . She now lives in Maggie Valley and enjoys coming here . She has danced here many times and so has my niece . She is now retired . I included a picture of her plaque and her with one of her teams back around the early 80's .

I recently visited this place as beginner/intermediate. I fell in love with place. Was great for learning blues also had advanced run blacks that were terrifying but good place to grow for future. Had excellent trainer Jess who was so kinda professional and taught me so many tips and trick to help me advance! This place is great! Not to crowded and nice size runs unlike Appalachian Ski Mt which was tiny. I had great time comparable to Colorado runs. Everyone was kind lovely views of mountains highly recommended and closest park to Atlanta can do in one day.

As I was driving through Maggie Valley earlier this week, I saw the Observation Tower with gorgeous fall colors all around, so I stopped to check it out. For just 50 cents, I could climb the tower and see the valley. What a beautiful view, well worth the time and 50 cents spent here!
