Safari Car Rental is the way to go if you’re planning to hire a 4X4. They aren’t necessarily the cheapest BUT their vehicles are in pristine condition (virtually new) and the added extras / bonuses (table, camping chairs, gps, cooler box and camping fridge) we’re greatly appreciated. Vincent and his team were friendly, professional and gave some wonderful advice and tips on routes to take etc. Their discreet branding is also great (a simple small sticker on the rear) compared to some companies that had the entire vehicle plastered in branding. We will most definitely use this company again when we’re next in Namibia.

Advanced Car Hire is a premium affordable car rental service centrally based in Namibia's capital, Windhoek. Our team of experts has been positively formed and shaped through an array of experiences throughout the years in our specific industry. All our staff are open minded and are always looking to learn more, not only from our clients but also in general. We are truly a well known global brand trusted by the tourist industry for our expert service in regards to receiving, dispatching and assisting our clients in the most elegant and convenient way possible.
We highly recommend Advanced Car Hire! Overall, it was a great experience, from the booking, to collection, to drop off. The staff are always very responsive and friendly. When we arrived in Windhoek from RSA, a driver from the company picked us up from the airport and took us to the car hire depo. Mickey, the driver, was animated and engaging during the car ride. We rented a Toyota Hilux 4x4 Double Cab (2014 model) which was very affordable and in decent condition. It was an old model, so didn't have any 'bells and whistles', but it got us around Namibia safely and comfortably. We were very happy with the vehicle! The vehicle came with a complementary fridge/ freezer in the back, which we used extensively. The collection process was quick, efficient and professional. The agent sat with us and took us through the contract in detail. We appreciated the transparency which is usually amiss with the major car rental companies. During our 12 day trip, we encountered two small issues: a broken battery pole (so the car couldn't start) and a snapped canopy latch (likely from the bumpy gravel roads). The Advanced Car Hire team gave us a 24hr Whatsapp line to contact them on, which we did, and the issues were tended to immediately and a mechanic was with us within 30 mins. Thank you for the great service, Advanced Car Hire!

Approximately 38 craft stalls from rural communities, ethnic groups and projects sell Namibian handicraft here, which range from jewellery to carved tree roots. We have the freshest Namibian food and best cheesecake and apple crumble in town! Our Craft Cafe is known all over the world for its stylish and excellent food. We support Namibian micro and small enterprises, and contribute to increase income through the sale of Namibian craft. Over 4,000 producers and their families derive an income from sales of their craft. We support Namibian design and product development, which is reflected in our large range of unique and quality products. We encourage the use of environmentally friendly products and sustainable utilization of Namibian natural resources. Vendors inside the Namibia Craft Centre may stock up to 5% of non-Namibian, but African handi-craft. No goods from outside the continent may be sold inside the Craft Centre. Some handi-craft and materials are hard to come by in Namibia, which is why we have made this concession. Staff should be able to tell you exactly the origin of most goods.
Arrived a little early 0800am , coffee shop was open . The quality and variety of locally made goods is excellent.

Daan Viljoen Game Park.Just 24 km west of Windhoek lies a sanctuary for a relatively large population of game species typical of Namibia's highlands. Proclaimed before Independence to preserve the ecosystem of the Khomas Hochland, the park was named after a former Administrator, Mr Daan Viljoen, who played a major part in establishing the park. The convenient location of the park makes Daan Viljoen an ideal venue for day visits and a perfect stopover for tourists seeking the tranquillity of the bush.FACT FILEPark size: 40 km2Year proclaimed: 1968Natural features: Khomas Hochland Plateau, scenic views of the Windhoek valleyVegetation: Highland shrubland, with various Acacia species, kudu bush (Combretum apiculatum) and buffalo thorn (Ziziphus mucronata).Wildlife: Mammals are springbok, kudu, eland, gemsbok, blue wildebeest, Hartmann's mountain zebra, leopard and klipspringer. The Augeigas River, which runs through the park, is polluted.
This was a perfect last night stop before the end of my amazing trip around Namibia and Botswana. Very convenient location, only 30 minutes drive to the international airport. The chalets are very comfortable, the food is fresh and delicious and the staff extremely helpful and polite. I spot a couple of animals, such as ostriches, wildebeest, giraffes, and baboons and I love seeing how they are safe in this beautiful area just outside the city. OVERAL: I had a great experience and I even recommend it on my blog Paula Pins the Planet.

Cool spot for selfies ???? too ????????????. The scenery is amazingly beautiful. The sign itself can be easily reached - when paying attention while driving - at about an hour coming up north from Sesriem, and having passed Solitaire; whatever the case, never go passed the Canyon; otherwise one must turn back and look for it. I believe one is already inside the Naukluft National Park, which is really really quite something too.
