The town is a popular vacation spot, located near the Cape Cod National Seashore. Harwich's beaches are on the Nantucket Sound side of Cape Cod. Harwich has three active harbors. Thus was a really lovely beach with soft sand and views out to the ocean. Only a small section is for the public but it was relatively quiet when we visited. It is definitely worth a stop. There is a stand with library books in it so you can read on while you are there

So long as your reason for coming has nothing to do with the sunset, you'll be on heaven here: beautiful, fine sand...great water, enough breeze to keep the flies off and kites up in the sky...a smattering of gulls. And not too crowded. Wonderful! Parking during the day requires a permit or a $20 daily fee (might be $25), but if you come after 5pm you can get in without restriction.
