Crewe /kruː/ is a railway town and civil parish within the borough of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The area has a population of 84,863. Crewe is perhaps best known as a large railway junction and home to Crewe Works, for many years a major railway engineering facility for manufacturing and overhauling locomotives, but now much reduced in size. From 1946 until 2002 it was also the home of Rolls-Royce motor car production. The Pyms Lane factory on the west of the town now produces Bentley motor cars exclusively. Crewe is 158 miles north of London and 35 miles south of Manchester.

The Crewe Heritage Centre, built to commemorate 150 years of the town of Crewe, was opened in 1987 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Based in a truly unique location, right in the heart of the Grand Junction Railway. Our site is connected to the mainline railway network with the result that we have frequent visiting main line steam and Diesel locomotives present on site in addition to our own collection of rolling stock. We also have three spectacular Miniature Railway's, offering 3.5", 5" and 7.25" gauges. We offer the facility of hiring the site out and have worked with rail industry and non-rail industry partners in the past.
A great little place to visit if you want to know that bit more of Crewe's railway heritage. Exhibits that highlight steam, diesel and electric - some under restoration offers a glimpse into the world of the working railway. Friendly staff, a cafe that offers a nice brew and a viewing gallery overlooking the mainline railway station so you can keep abreast with what the modern railway has to offer. Steam and diesel rides are available on the short demonstration track. And if that wasn't enough, forget requiring a child for a ride along the miniature railway! I have also often been when a mainline registered steam loco has come off a railtour to be serviced in-between duties, offering the opportunity to get up real close to a working locomotive.

On wet days we take our youngest grandchildren (3 & 2) here regularly. Cost is great much better than other similar venues and if you arrive before 10:30 includes soft drink and toast for the child. They also offer a loyalty scheme where after a number of visits the next is free. It gives a great venue for the children whilst also allowing us as grandparent (and the parents as well) a good workout. Different areas for different things including climbing, slides, sports type hall, baby area, and even a quiet area with ball pit. They also offer good selection of food and coffee's / teas. Oh and it is worthwhile on a dry day too, we just like to take of grandchildren in the fresh air if possible

I love Lakemore, its such a wonderful contrast to some of the over priced, over busy and over commercial farm parks that I’ve been to recently. It’s really safe so you can let the kids run around without ever feeling like you’ll lose them. The goats were our particular favourite, as well of course as the awesome outdoor play area! We don’t live locally but will definitely be back soon.

We attended our granddaughters birthday party at Play World. We have visited lots of other soft play areas and this one is far superior to most. It is clean which is more than can be said for many. There is loads for kids of all ages and it seemed safe but fun. The party facilities were small but nice. The toilets were clean and easily accessible on ground level. The kids party food looked nice and they all liked it. All in all very nice.
