An oasis for wildlife, the Gardens feature 52 hectares of plants from Australia and all around the world. Horticultural and art and craft shows are displayed in the Auditorium most weekends and free volunteer guided walks leave the Information Centre, Monday to Saturday (except public holidays) at 11 am and 1 pm. Alternatively you may like to explore the Gardens via one, or all, of the three self-guided trails available.
The botanical gardens cover a vast area with a huge array of beautiful flowers, tropical plants and trees of Australia and around the world. It's a lovely green breath of life near the city of Brisbane. Some of the highlights are the geodesic dome, the Japanese gardens, the rainforest and the bamboo forest. Definitely worth a visit and everyone will enjoy the walk and tour of the gardens. It was an unforgettable experience in nature.

We had a small group of US based travel agents in Brisbane for a limited time and the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was the perfect spot for them to get their koala cuddle fix! It is a comfortable walk through the grounds and there is a complete range of iconic Australian wildlife. We stopped in for lunch and had time to feed kangaroos, cuddle koalas and get great photos, see wombat, dingo, cassowary, kookaburras and cockatoos, just to mention a few. Then we took the Mirimar cruising the Brisbane river back to South Bank. Its the only way to go!

Scenic park located right in the middle of the city features colorful subtropical gardens and Celebration Lawn, a green oasis for picnicking, flying kites or just relaxing.
I am embarrassed! Despite numerous visits to Brisbane over the years- mainly, admittedly, on work - I had failed to visit this wonderful area, and just within walking distance of the city centre. The numerous paths lead through a very diverse garden - views, fountains, ponds, sculptures, trees, shrubs, lawns and beautiful flower beds. A must for any visit I do in future.

The Caboolture Historical Village is situated on 4 hectares (about 12 acres) of land just north of Caboolture town centre on the old Bruce Highway. It is listed as the Number One Tourist destination in the region. The dream of preserving our local heritage started with the formation of the Caboolture Historical Society in 1959. The first building arrived 20 years later when the old Caboolture Shire Council Chambers was moved to the site. Since that time with the contribution of many volunteers and supporters, the Village has grown to be the popular destination for tourists and locals to explore the local history.
A group of friends and I visited here on Friday. What a fabulous place! Beautifully maintained and cared for by dedicated volunteers. Spotlessly clean both in the grounds and numerous facilities. Sadly, when we arrived anticipating a nice cuppa, were told that due to circumstances, the cafe would not be open as they couldn't get enough staff. Not to worry I thought, spied the 'tea room' across the way and saw a lady there. Wandered over and asked if she was open as they had a sign outside. She said "No, I'm just the cleaner, what did you want?" I said that we were looking for a cuppa before we started around the village. She asked how many of us there were, and I told her nine. " I can make you a cup of coffee or tea with some scones, I'll just get my friend to help, she's the gardener, come back in 15 mins, if I can work this microwave, we'll fix you up"... I was stunned by her lovely manner and willingness to help out. We proceeded to indulge in the yummiest scones I've ever had, with bowls of delicious plum jam and cream. It was amazing. Thank you Donna and Carmen for your warm and friendly efforts. Nothing was too much trouble. There is so much to see at the village, sadly, my old legs gave out in the heat and I didn't get to see everything, but what a fabulous day. Our group travelled back in time with the relics of the past. (some of us still remember certain things ha!) The village originally had over 300 volunteers before Covid, now there is merely just over 100, most of whom cannot work yet due to the wait time on blue cards which they now all must have! Such a shame to see them suffering with this downturn. It is such an educational place, interest at every turn. I would highly recommend it for a beaut day out. The facilities and grounds are spotless, and there is quite a bit of seating for tired bodies throughout the village.

The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is a single institution located across two adjacent river-side buildings in the Cultural Precinct at Brisbane's South Bank. QAGOMA holds a collection of historical, modern and contemporary art, and stages a dynamic program of Australian and international exhibitions. We are home to the Children's Art Centre which collaborates on interactive artworks with leading artists from around the world, and the Australian Cinematheque, the only dedicated cinema facility in an Australian art museum. QAGOMA operates its own retail outlets and cafes and restaurants, proceeds from which support the Gallery.
When visiting Brisbane we visited GOMA and loved the current exhibition of the wonderful Margaret Olley paintings, and also the Ben Quilty exhibition. This is an excellent gallery, and the curation was excellent. We would always come back here when visiting Brisbane in the future.

The Brisbane River is perfect for adventure, leisure and recreation. Go kayaking, stand up paddleboarding or take a trip on a City Cat. Celebrate the Brisbane River at a Riverfire function or just have a picnic in the riverside parkland. The Kangaroo Point Cliffs are a great vantage point to see the Brisbane River, or go rock climbing or abseiling with Riverlife Adventure Centre. Try Story Bridge Adventure climb, cycle, rollerblade or go for a jog. Dance with the local aboriginal tribe, Mirrabooka or visit South Bank. However you look at it you can't visit Brisbane without experiencing the River. Then cruise out to Tangalooma Island Resort for a must do experience. Enjoy!
The Brisbane river is enjoyable both by boat and if time allows, there is an amazing path that runs along its banks...nature, cafes, restaurants, exercise, relax...the river offers something for everyone. Clean public bathrooms.
