Menorca Donkey Rescue

My mum and I were in Menorca last year and found out about Menorca Donkey Rescue at the end of our holiday so it was already on our to do list for this year. Take care when driving towards it on the main road as you could miss the turn off although it is clearly signposted (just round a bend). We found Sunni and one of her volunteers with the donkeys and were made to feel very welcome. You could immediately tell how much they care about the welfare of these lovely animals and once you hear about the donkeys history you appreciate even more how important this donkey rescue centre is. We took along some carrots and apples with us on that 1st day(stocked up from Lidl!) and they were extremely appreciated. We visited 3 other times on our holiday taking kilos of carrots with us each time along with peelings from our kitchen and ends of bread. This is not a tourist attraction in the usual sense but definitely worth visiting if you love donkeys. There is no entrance fee but if you do go and visit then please take some food with you and even better give a donation to help Sunni and the volunteers keep these donkeys in a safe, happy environment. There is a lot of hard manual work involved and it is a big commitment for Sunni and her volunteers on a daily basis. Next year when we are back in Menorca we will be packing some old clothes so that we can help!! My mum and I sponsored Sol who has had a very hard working life and I am attaching a picture of him.

If you like a nice themed bar then I would say to visit this bar - it is a lot of fun. We nearly walked straight passed it, as it is set back slightly - but would recommend. The bar is big, lots of tables - we didn't have to wait to be seated, it was quick. The tables are a little close together inside, so if you are worried about COVID you can request a table outside. The drinks are all themed, with sparklers ect it is a great vibe. Pricing was good. Not expensive. Staff were quick, and very helpful. Our waiter helped us download the app so that we could view the menus online. Would recommend a visit.

Clean beach with crystal clear water, amazing for both swimming and also snorkelling, good to get there early if you have a car, cause the carpark the full very quickly. 3 restaurants on the beach but some of the things are pricey so good idea is to go to a mahon supermarket such as mercadona, or lidl and stock up on water etc if you have a car. find both with northerly and southerly winds.. but if southerly the there might be a bit wavy which makes it amazing for body boarding and also jumping in the waves..otherwise other days the sea is calm as a pan cake. Bring some dry bread and feed the fishes if you go out a bit to the reef. there are also toilets block by the restaurants, and you can rent pedalo boats and also banana boats.
