La Gran Sabana is located in the eastern part of Venezuela and includes a large expanse of plateau which is dominated by open savannas that emphasize the numerous Tepuyes. Numerous rivers and waterfalls that run north to south, are part of the combined form of the upper basin of the Caroni River. This river has an important purpose for the country because its waters feed the Guri Dam, the largest hydroelectric plant in Venezuela. The climate in the Gran Sabana is evergreen rain forests with more than 350 endemic species. Our highlig Roraima Expedition with everything Included - please send us an email.. The eastern half of Canaima National Park is crossed by a road, this region is known as the Gran Sabana (English: The Great Plains). La Sabana is a grassy plateau, with an elevation of 900 to 1200 meters. Abounding in natural wonders such as waterfalls, rapids and rainforest, abundant wildlife makes the Savanna is a natural paradise. Roraima is one of the most acclaimed shows off.

The tallest tepui (flat-topped, cliff-edged mountain) in Venezuela’s great plains, Roraima’s fog-covered summit has interesting black rocks, pools, gorges and wildflower gardens to explore.
A gorgeous trek that managed to surprise despite high expectations. Very well thought out, well maintained paths, gorgeous countryside, plants and endemic animal species, waterfalls for natural dips and showers along the way, year around. And the top is like reaching another planet, a deserted Indian palace ruins in the clouds with gardens, statues and ponds. We went with Vago tours (instagram account has some suggested departure dates but was very accommodating) with Luis who also organised a nice team of porters and the cook. We spent two nights totally alone on the top of Roraima, no other groups. A personalised experience, recommended. Some suggestions to keep in mind: As of 2020, the economy is pretty much dolarised, with brazilian reais also used as direct payment method in Santa Elena and around. Euro is less popular and will be treated as USD 1:1. The vast majority of hikers are Venezuelan and Brazilian. Similarly, the two languages and portuñol, the mix of the two, are easiest to travel around with. There is little you can do against the vicious puri puri bites. They are called besos de la Sabana. Long sleeves and long pants and some scratching for a week or so afterwards. The maintenance of the park and cleanliness were impressive. However, there was an uncomfortable situation when requesting the proof of payment for the entrance fees to the park. Do try insist on getting that as it would be a shame if the collected fees are not put to continued upkeep. The paved road from Santa Elena to San Francisco is way better than the road approaching the border on the Brazilian side. The remaining one hour of unpaved part from San Francisco to the start of the trek is quite bumpy though. All in all a wonderful, perhaps the nicest trek in South America considering the overall experience of beautiful nature and sustainable tourism without crowds.

This breathtakingly beautiful waterfall is 16 times the height of Niagara Falls and one of Venezuela's top tourist draws.
I traveled in Venezuela for two weeks in December. Given that I had only two weeks of vacation, I searched for some local operators in order to travel very efficiently although I normally prefer on my own. I contacted several local tour companies, but I decided to work with explorepartners.com since they a long history of experience. For 14 days I traveled to La Gran Sabana, Angel Falls tour plus Caracas and Los Roques. During my tour, I did not worry about my safety because partners provided all services. Remember to bring USD small cash. La Gran Sabana 6 nights and Angel Falls 2 nights in Ucaima Camp + 4 days in Posada Los Roques. It was all amazing + I really enjoyed it all but the weather could have been better in the eastern part of the country. When it is rainy season it is harder to see great views compared to dry season. The rainy season is the best time to visit Angel Falls. You might visit several falls including Angel falls for 3 days. Obviously Angel Falls are the most famous tourist place compared to other falls during the tour, I personally preferred other falls and the islands of Los Roques because of various activities. You could swim and dive all day. The whole tour was exciting - the last day I had chance to go to Caracas. Many people might avoid traveling to Caracas given the safety issue. But there is no problema - great life style and atmosphere here. Thanks to the local guide provided I could look around Caracas and learn many things about Venezuela including the Islands.

Crasky was the first island inhabited by permanent fishermen in the archipelago, on a long barrier with an equally long but sandy beach on the leeward side. Sometimes it is really annoying to get to its beaches when there are small overflows, leave only one landing point, it is beautiful when its waters are calm, in what were the fishermen's ranches and with their modernized ancestors, they offer food services, camp and rent of cayak. At the tip, there is a path that goes to a small bay where you can snorkel. - Great place for Fly Fishing & Kitesurfing.

This is a very beautiful place to visit. It is located on top of Cerro el Volcán, in the southern area of Caracas, with a stunning view of the city and the massive Avila, the beloved mountain of all caraqueños. Topotepuy is a spectacular place, with gorgeous green gardens filled with all types of trees, plants, bushes, flowers in all colors. You can sit and enjoy the view and the sensation of peace and fresh air. They offer different types of activities, such as guided visits, shows for children with music and dance, and many educational programs. Among the different areas at Topotepuy, you will find amazing places such as the Zen Garden, the Rose Garden, the English Garden, the Cloud Forest, the Herb Garden, the Garden of All Continents, and the very special sanctuary called Gruta de la Virgen, a small grotto dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
