Emblematic estate since 1732, the Château du Moulin-à-Vent sits in the very heart of the appellation, 200 yards behind the 15th century-old windmill. Formerly called the Château des Thorins, the estate changed its name when the AOC was born in 1936, but the Château still stands on the flagship terroir of the appellation: Les Thorins. In 1872, as Gevrey became Gevrey-Chambertin or Puligny became Puligny-Montrachet, etc., the village of Romanèche took the name of its most famous grand cru to become Romanèche-Thorins. Today, the family-owned estate has 74 acres of vineyards, exclusively in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation. The Parinet family, along with Brice Laffond, foster a strategy of excellence and a meticulous approach guided by the very identity of their exceptional terroirs.
We arrived at 2pm and Morgane gave our group of 10 a very warm welcome and informative tour. We learned about the terrior and history of Beaujolais while exploring the winery production, quality controls, cellar and tasting room. Highly recommended in the quaint village near Romanèche Thorins, only 43 miles north of Lyon. We hired to excellent van drivers Jordan and Nans from Chauffeur Lyon who stayed with us and had lunch in town. This was such a fun day for this California wine group and a very good bargain.

Marvellous. Thank you, Giselbertus, for the wonderful sculpture. You can see more of his work in the Musée Rolin.

Beautiful 17th century chateau in southern Burgundy
Loved the gardens around the castle, we brought our own lunch and had a fantastic view. Because went in lunchtime the castle itself (meaning: the tours) was closed and that meant we had the gardens for ourselves! Well worth a visit and impressive to see the exposition on the renovations they did, way more work than I expected, can only have respect for that.

The Rock of Solutré, emblematic place of Southern Burgundy, is in the heart of the "Grand Site de France Solutré Pouilly Vergisson" which groups 8 villages.
The Roche de Solutre is a must-see for the Burgundy area. This is an easy hike with amazing views along the way and at the top. We did not stop in the museum areas, just made the ascent and enjoyed the peaceful views of the surrounding countryside.

We were 6 adults, 3 children of 3 years old and a baby. We took a full pass to all activities in the parc. Great combination of activities for both adults and children. There’s also a lot of space in all areas (we had a rather big stroller) and it’s very cool inside so good for hot summer days. Personell was really very friendly! The children also enjoyed it: the story of winery told in a playful way, all parts of the museum very interactive and attractive for children as well. Some parts are like an attraction parc, and we did not even have to pay for the children. The little train brings you to the garden, where there is also room for children to participate in the activities. We had a very pleasant day and were all very tired at the end of the day (you spend a whole day there). Food at noon was very good and not expensive at all. Also good facilities for children!

Built during the 17th century by the governor of the Dauphiné. It is, today, the property of Mister PROUVOST who restaured it and refurnished it as a palace from the 18th century. During the guided tour you will discover fifteen furnished rooms (kitchen, King's bedroom, Louis XV's and Louis XVI's drawingrooms, chapel ...). Have a walk in the french-styles gardens surrounding the château.
