10 Things to do Good for Couples in Putrajaya That You Shouldn't Miss

April 30, 2022 Etsuko Causey

Putrajaya, officially the Federal Territory of Putrajaya, is a planned city and the federal administrative centre of Malaysia. The seat of government was shifted in 1999 from Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya because of overcrowding and congestion in the former. Kuala Lumpur remains Malaysia's national capital and is the seat of the King, the Parliament, and all the foreign embassies, and the country's commercial and financial centre. Putrajaya was the idea of former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. It became Malaysia's third Federal Territory, after Kuala Lumpur and Labuan, in 2001.

Putrajaya is so worth a visit - we were blown away by it - and the bridge is one of many beautiful things to see - both in the day and the night - in itself, and for the views that it affords.

The Putrajaya Botanical Garden is still open, but some of the facilities are not available due to the ongoing virus. So there’s no bike hire or boat rides etc, basically anything that requires staff. At times it felt like I had the entire place to myself such was the dearth of visitors. The gardens are beautifully landscaped, with some great trails of gardens, forests and even a canopy walk. A great place to see some lovely plants.

It is my 4th time here and I always tour around the area with bicycles. You can rent the bicycle with RM8/person/hour and the entrance here was free. The bicycle maintenance was good. The route is not that hard for beginners. The flowers is not really bloom. But, the view from the lakeside is beautiful. Spend sometime at the moroccan pavilion for some photos. But they currently have extensive maintenance. You cannot go in to the rooms to see the details.

Moroccan Pavilion Putrajaya

Reviewed By macedonboy - Glasgow, United Kingdom

This is a landmark building inside the botanical gardens of Putrajaya. As the name suggests, the design is based on Moorish design, and it looks like Moorish design of the Nasrid era as it’s very similar looking compared to the Alhambra in terms of design. The inner courtyard wasn’t open because of the lockdown, but the rest of the building is still open. Even without the courtyard, the building looks great. The botanical garden was near empty when I visited, so I had the Moroccan Pavilion to myself, which was fantastic.
