This is an amazing cathedral and very interesting to visit. Plus during the summer check out the amazing light and sound show at night.

I walked through the old city on Summer Solstice night, when street musicians of all kinds come out. The streets are generally quite clean, and the small streets and alleys slope down from the cathedral to the Loire, holding little surprises like sculptures, small parks, and timbered buildings. A soothing place to relax, and if you're in a non-soothing part, a more relaxed part is close by.

Easy to find right in the centre leading to the old centre. The square is dominated by the statue of Joan of Arc who is a heroine if mine so I had to see the statue.

Nice gardens at the rear of the university. A little way out of Orleans but easily reachable via the tram. Just a word of warning with the trams: we tried to pay for our tickets at the tram stop machine with five different visa and MasterCard debit/credit cards but eventually had to hunt around for correct change (coins only) in order to pay. The gardens themselves are beautiful but very little is open in the morning. We arrived at 11:30 and the only refreshment stall open was at the mini golf. The shop nor the train was operating until 14:30. Don't be put off though, it was a lovely walk through very attractive gardens including multiple play areas for children and a small animal area. The butterfly house is small but again a stunning attraction included in the price of your garden admission. Give it a go.......
