The fantastic, sandy and shallow beach is really complemented by Le Remblai. The wide clean promenade is great for a stroll or for cyclists (by far the easiest way to get to the beaches in the height of summer). It's colourful and dotted with bars, creperies and ice cream shops, and just a few minutes away from the beach itself.

Nature lovers, the Sables d'Olonne zoo is expecting you within walking distance from the ocean! Wild flora and fauna have found here their island dedicated to biodiversity research and conservation. Alongside 100-year old trees and lush vegetation, 350 rare animals inhabit this oasis: Atlas lions, Kordofan giraffes, Amur leopards, monkeys, maned wolves, red pandas, giant anteaters, armadillos and other birds will have you discover a fascinating world.
We really enjoyed our visit to the zoo whilst on holiday. It was conveniently located close to Sables d'Olonne. Lots of animals to see: you can enter a bird cage and feed the parakeets; see lions, wolves and leopards; watch the monkeys swing about; say hello to giraffes, penguins and meerkats; finally see crocodiles and snakes in the reptile house.
