Ritsurin Garden is a superb cultural asset that conveys the characteristics of the daimyo strolling gardens that were typically seen in the 17th and 18th century. A daimyo strolling garden is a type of traditional Japanese garden in which ponds and hills are expertly constructed over a vast tract of land, and you can enjoy the garden's space as you leisurely walk around inside.
This garden is full of beautiful detail. The trees are manicured immaculately and the landscaping of each view is exquisite. Even though we visited in early November and the autumn colours weren't yet fully showing the garden still looked fantastic.

Very helpful, informative, friendly and available guide/receptionist in English (and other languages). We wish we could attend a performance there someday in April. Very worth the visit.

Not many art works at this museum but the building/environment is an integral part of the experience. The best is this white room where 5 Monet paintings are displayed; you put on slippers to enter. Online ticketing system restrict number of people. Was there low season (December) so didn't need to book but show up and buy a ticket. Took me under 1 hour to enjoy the three exhibits, enjoy the architecture and have a drink at the cafe.

Our time frame was too tight to stay any longer than the day visit. We found the islands transport system was very efficient & inexpensive. We chose to take the bus to the end of the line for a fee of 100 Yen, then the free shuttle thru to the end museum “Chichu Art Museum” then to walk back to the return bus & checking out the various art works along the way. Menu photo opportunities. Our schedule didn’t allow time to look at the many other attractions along the way. The arrive early & had a wonderful breakfast at Sparkie blended coffee. Very good price & delicious. A late lunch at Yuunagi cafe before leaving.

Photographs don't do justice to the power of this place. Profoundly spiritual experience. The breathtaking architecture and the subtle, mesmerising art installation form such a perfect whole. We stayed for almost 90 minutes in near silence, just sitting on the floor, watching the droplets of water first form and then launch on their serendipitous journeys, watching the breeze play with a white ribbon, observing others observing the water drops, walking around the curving, circular structure and feeling very moved by it all.

The "Sanuki Takamatsu Matsuri" is known as one of the four largest festivals in Shikoku. This festival colors the mid-summer nights in grand style, and is held primarily in Central Park, Sunport Takamatsu and on Chuo Street, with events such as live comedy, yukata contests, karaoke championships and mass dance with nearly 60 groups participating. "Dondon Takamatsu," one of the festival's main events, boasts a fireworks display that eminates from main area of Sunport Takamatsu, regarded as among the largest displays in Shikoku. A magnificent performance of light and sound is produced according to an annual theme, as approximately 10,000 fireworks are set off.

We enjoyed walking around the Olive Garden and taking pictures with the background of the windmill. Free rent of broom in the center.
