Abundant eco-attraction in Saint Ann, featuring botanical gardens, rainforest, blue hole, waterfalls, beautiful tropical flora and fauna. We offer nature and heritage tours!
I found this on a list of beautiful places to visit near Ocho Rios so today my brother, niece and I drove over for the afternoon. There aren't any signs out anywhere because they are apparently under new management and still in the process of getting everything up and running. They told us that for the time being they prefer guests to call ahead and make appointments so they can ensure everything is ready. That being said, it was an absolutely beautiful place and Ras Bobby, Lilly, and Biggie were all incredibly nice and welcoming. Ignore previous reviews saying you can just wander around on your own. That may have been true in the past, but the trail is now not as obviously marked, and you are on private property. Also our guide Biggie was extremely knowledgeable, telling us the names of dozens of the beautiful and interesting plants along the path as well as interesting facts about them and uses for them, so we were happy to have him with us. The entire hike/walk was lush and beautiful, and you can always hear the river. The path isn't too strenuous but I was happy to have some running shoes on and a bottle of water. Finally, the swimming hole at the end was nice and cold from the fresh water filtering down out of the surrounding rocks and it felt amazing to jump in and cool off after the warm, humid hike. Call ahead if you would like to do this. I loved going and will absolutely go back next time I visit the island.

We visited the garden/gallery and were so happy we did! It offers a beautiful and lush respite from the touristy Montego Bay hip strip. Ras greeted us and gave a brief history of the home/garden/museum and interesting experience of building on the steep hillside/cliff while a hummingbird landed in my hand to feed from the feeder. The guide was very informative and pleasant. It rained while we were there which seemed only to enhance the experience...they provided us with umbrellas.

Want a wild outdoor adventure that'll leave you breathless, exhilarated and home in time for supper? Then push your way through the dense tropical forest of the Blue Mountains for an afternoon that will feast your eyes and work your quads.
One of us had trained for the Jamaica Defense Force while the other had heard all of the stories about the narrow winding roads, the cool temperatures, the lush jungle, and of course, the stories of an 18 year old private and his first days from home. This was a visit coming for the past 40 years, but always delayed. It was a moving experience to watch the septuagenarian relive the start of his 20 year military career at a base founded n 1841 by the British. Little did they know their escape from yellow fever would be coming up on its 200th anniversary. Be sure to check out the museum on the base. We passed the small towns of Redlight and Irish Town as we traveled the curvy road back to Kingston. We were able to see all the way into the waters of Kingston Harbor from the winding road. Great day!

The greatest of Jamaican great houses, the Rose Hall Great House has a story with all the elements of an engaging novel. Built in 1770 by John Palmer and his wife, it eventually became the residence of their grandnephew, John Rose Palmer. In 1820, Palmer married Annee, a beautiful but feisty English girl. Little did John know that his young wife possessed “black magic” powers that would eventually lead to his demise. During her reign as mistress of the plantation, Annee did away with two more husbands and countless lovers. “The White Witch of Rose Hall” has fascinated generations, and even today, there are those who claim to see Annee passing through the Great House. A candle-lit evening tour of the Rose Hall Great House is a must for visitors to Montego Bay. Your guided exploration of the former home of Jamaica’s White Witch, Annee Palmer, includes captivating and chilling stories of love, murder and mystery skillfully told by knowledgeable guides. You’re sure to feel goose bumps as these eerie tales come to life in this grand estate, where ghost sightings have been reported over the years. Tours also give historic insight into this grandest of Jamaican great houses, now beautifully restored with 18th-century decor and antiques. To conclude this fascinating adventure, you can visit the dungeon, now transformed into a tavern called Annee’s Pub. Many visitors find that the famous rum cocktail, known as “Witches Brew” helps banish the spirits of ghosts or black magic they sense still lingering in the mansion.
