So hear my little story. Due to the virus, they haven't been renting bikes for a while. I reserved the bike rental through rentabikenow.com. When I called to confirm the rental, they said they didn't rent bikes. I was confused, and called again. They said I was the first bike renter they had in months, and they weren't renting bikes directly from the store yet. So, if you want to ensure you rental, get it through that website 24 hours0 in advance. When I picked up the e-bike, for my wife, as no self-respecting athlete, like me, would ever need one; Nelson was very helpful, and got us on our way. Uno problemo...it was 1:00, and we planned to circle the 24 mile bay loop, but the shop closed at 3:00. Well we were pedaling our way around, and a biker we met told us that the 5th street ferry wasn't operating, and we would hafta go to the 1st street ferry. We pushed hard and made it to the ferry at 2:20 Well the 1st street ferry runs on the hour, and the 5th street ferry, which we passed by, runs on the bottom of the hour...AND WAS WORKING!! So we had to wait til 3:00 to catch the ferry, ride the 15 minutes to cross, then pedal to the store to return the bikes. We called the shop, and they said they would be closed, but told us to go around the back to drop of the bikes. How accomodating!! So, bottom line. Rent thru the website, know the ferry schedule, if you are going to use it; know that about 2-1/2 hours of pedaling will be needed for a pretty good athlete to ride the course, with a hybrid; and RENT FROM HOLLAND'S BICYCLES!!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Visitor Center is currently closed.
You need to go there at least once. Step back in time, very special and very unique. the shops are fun and the restaurants were packed with people. The ambiance is wonderful. Go and see The Coronado Hotel, you will not be disappointed.

Popular surfing beach.
You must get here early to secure a parking spot as there are not many. The only exception is if you are military and then the other side of this beach is open to you with more parking and a beach too, but it's for military families. The beach has beautiful white sand with lovely shells being thrown up on it as it's open to the coast. The view out to sea with large ships, Point Loma Pennisula, and Cabrillo National Monument is great. In the background is the low growl of planes from North Island Naval Air Center. Overhead fly helicopters infrequently which children love to see. I saw a pelican flying across the breakers looking for a meal.
