We had our little boys 6th birthday party on the railway yesterday. It was absolutely fantastic. The volunteers did a smashing job and made sure everyone had a blast. I can't recommend the experience high enough. All the guests had a great time, and it was something different in terms of a party. Give it a go, you won't regret it!

Something new for the cafe to do a Sunday lunch. It was lovely. Plenty of food. The wait was a bit long but they were busy. They were still serving from the usual menu. There is a fantastic view from the upstairs. As always the horses are the highlight.

My friend and I arrived ready for some pampering at Woodland Spa after a fully laden ten mile hike but that’s another story. Having visited previously, (though a couple of years ago) I was interested to find out if the standards were still the same. My friend goes to lots of spas so I really hoped Woodland was going to deliver as it was my treat for her birthday. We were not disappointed. From the check-in at reception of Crow Wood Leisure, through to reception at the spa, therapists, the terrace bar, Bertram’s restaurant and breakfast in the lounge every single member of staff was excellent. Everyone was both professional and friendly. The spa itself was immaculate and not too full. We were able to visit all of the steam / sauna rooms without feeling like sardines. My friend and I both had a mini back massage. My therapist Harriet was fabulous - really felt like she’d found my problem areas and worked on them even in a short time. The food in Bertram’s was beautifully presented and very tasty. The beds were super comfy - had a great nights sleep. Breakfast in the lounge was equally excellent, set me up for the day! A thoroughly perfect Spa, highly recommended. I’m going back in July with my mum.

Reel Cinema

Reviewed By lisabL9988MI - Burnley, United Kingdom

I'd like to start this review by saying it's the first visit that either me or my husband have made to Burnley cinema since it changed hands from Apollo to Reel. We haven't been since then because under Apollo it was so behind the times, more often than not it was dirty and uncared for. A relative recently went to the cinema and said its changed completely. We checked online and found its had a major refurbishment throughout and is now (apparently) the flagship cinema for reel. We booked 2 tickets in the VIP lounge. £30 total cost for 2 tickets (single ticket is £17.50). VIP waiting area (basically just a small area off the foyer with sofas, but nice to have somewhere to wait ). When you go in to the screen, you're given a glass of orange juice or prosecco and a little paper bag (containing 200ml bottle water, 2 finger kitkat, bag of roasted peanuts). Admittedly there are a limited number of seats (probably ~30 seats total, including a couple of wheelchair spaces). Spacious electric reclining armchairs (even for larger builds) , with tables between every 2 so you don't feel like the people next to you are in your space. Enough leg room that you can have your seat reclined and there's just about enough room for someone to walk past! During trailers they bring out your ordered snacks (selected on booking): popcorn (sweet or salted) or nachos (cheesy or bbq) and a drink (budweiser, magners, Pepsi, lemonade/orangeade - can't remember which brands). Part way through the film you get the ice cream selected at time of booking (magnum - classic, white or double caramel). And all of it, with the exception of the drink & ice cream you could take home for later if you don't want to eat it there. The popcorn comes in a round tub, about the size of a side plate and has a secure lid. You can fit it in one of the paper bags if the water bottle isn't in! I've got to be honest, I was very impressed! Really good value. ???????? And, unlike when it was a apollo, it was very clean! Even the toilets have had a refurb. We've been twice in a week (different films) because we enjoyed it so much. A great way to watch a film, good value. I would add two suggestions: an option for tea/coffee rather than fizzy pop/alcohol and maybe an option; to just pay for the seat with no snack (a friend who went this week would rather have had no snacks). Overall, a great cinema experience.
