We had an amazing day in the beautiful park. It offers a nice variety of attractions for young and old. Also it’s nice and clean. However what I don’t understand is that you can smoke in the park. But overall really nice!

Obviously nicer once the work has been completed and the river is up its his normal level but still a lovely walk with plenty of places to sit and have a seat or stop for a coffee or drink along the way. Its great that everyone uses it whether for running, cycling, jogging or strolling admiring the river on one side and the fantastic architecture on the city side.

After parking in a deserted wooded car park area, you enter the Chateau grounds and find a glorious garden with a lake. The Chateau is still very grand but a little faded. As we waited for our tickets a beautiful hummingbird moth sipped the nectar of the flowers by the entrance. You enter the main arboretum at a small opening by the side of the Chateau and follow the many paths through dozens of exotic mature trees. It is truly magnificent. The shade of of the trees keeps you cool on the sunniest of days. It is a forest of calm.

I am not especially one for climbing old ruins, but this one is very nice. I especially like to stroll through the old part of the village which is very pittoresque. There is a annual cycling race? Quite a spectacle through the steep and narrow roads.
