One of the prime wine producing regions in California. A visit to Sonoma Valley yields an outstanding array of food, lodging and scenery.
We went to Sonoma Valley. This is a wonderful area to explore. There are lots of cute communities such as Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Windsor, Sonoma, Healdsburg. There are lots of great parks including Armstrong Redwoods State Park, We went again in July and enjoyed a Fourth of July lunch, wine tasting, exploring the country side, and then later visited with friends.

I visited several vineyards in Napa and Sonoma on this trip and thoroughly enjoyed this one. Maybe it was the beautiful architecture of the building and grounds, or the amazing brick oven pizza that we enjoyed for lunch...or maybe it was the gelato that proved to be the perfect sweet treat to round out our meal. It could have been the perfect Prosecco that kicked off our tasting (which I purchased) or the subsequent selection of 4 additional wines (2 of which I purchased). Whatever it was, it was perfect and was an awesome way to cap my trip. Oh...I also joined the VJB wine club...so there!

The B. Wise Tasting Lounge is located in the heart of Kenwood, just fifteen minutes from downtown Sonoma and ten minutes from Santa Rosa. Walk-in guests are welcome to enjoy a full range of B. Wise current release wines. By-appointment tastings for groups of six to twelve people are available in our private back room. B. Wise is a wine project founded by proprietor Brion Wise that brings together the best that Sonoma and Napa vineyards have to offer. As part of that, we sought winemaking expertise that would allow us to take the best advantage of extraordinary vineyard sites.
Went to B Wise with two other couples and went for the Private Tasting. An excellent experience overall, great wine, amazing location, unique experience in the cave. Would highly recommend.

Thank you for considering Hamel Family Wines during your upcoming Sonoma visit. Each Experience is privately led by a Wine Ambassador, includes a tour, and wine tasting, and can include food pairings. In addition, a “dry” tasting is offered for non-wine drinkers who are enjoying the Experience with others. All tours are appointment only, and are available Thursday through Monday. At Hamel Family Wines, we strive to make great wine and to have fun doing so. We value quality over quantity, enjoyment over tedium and fostering long-term recurring relationships with our guests. We work hard to produce the highest quality wines in limited quantities from grapes grown on our Sonoma Valley and Moon Mountain District estate vineyards. We farm our vineyards with organic and biodynamic practices, always mindful of our role as responsible stewards of the land. We remain grateful for our guests, respectful of our neighbors and appreciative of the fine work that our team performs daily.
I booked the Reserve Experience for my family of four at Hamel Family Wines through their Facebook Messenger. The contact person Rachelle was very prompt with replies. The Reserve Experience combines wine tasting with four dishes of food pairings in the private dining room in their wine cave. The Hamel estate is so beautifully designed and immaculate. We were shown the facilities before settling in for the food and wines. Our guide Zakk told us a lot of information about the architecture (the main building and wine cave are just stunning), wine making process, and anecdotes, in such a funny and cheerful way, which made the experience even more memorable. The food was another highlight. All four dishes were absolutely delicious, more so than some other long established and well known restaurants in the area that we tried. The chef even made his own salt from local sea water. Some herbs were from the small garden in the property. The wines were impressive, so fragrant, too. I'm not much of a wine drinking person, so cannot describe the wine well. However, I absolutely love the whole experience. Special thanks goes to Zakk, the chef, and their team. Highly recommended.

A visit to Lasseter Family Winery is an exploration for all the senses, and one that will not be easily forgotten. Visits are offered by appointment only, and are available daily beginning at 10am. Estate visits last approximately one and one-half hour. Join us at our beautiful estate in the Sonoma Valley for a behind the scenes look at the Art of Winemaking and the passion that the Lasseter's have brought to the challenge of producing world class wines. The Lasseter Family's love of old-world style blended wines inspired them to begin revitalizing these historic vineyards in 2002 and their commitment is evident from the moment you drive thru our front gate and gaze upon the sweeping vista of meticulously maintained vineyards. Your visit begins with a walk through our organically farmed vineyards - where all great wines begin. From there, you'll explore our Barrel room, Tank Room and Crush pad, where your Wine Specialist host will bring the journey of grape - to - glass to life. You'll then be invited to relax in our intimate Wine Room to taste the collection of Lasseter Family Wines accompanied by a plate of local, artisan cheeses. Throughout your visit, you'll see how the Lasseter's zest for living and love of storytelling is evident in every detail - From the series of original label art commissioned by local artist Dennis Ziemienski thru the balanced & harmonious wines created by Winemaker Julia Iantosca. *Note: Our last appointment of the day is offered at 4pm, and does not include a tour. The fee for this tasting only appointment is $25 per person. $35/$25* per person (Complimentary for Lasseter Family Wine Club members**) **Number of complimentary visits determined by membership level.
Lasseter just opened recently for wine club members. They offered a bottle service with cheese platter to enjoy on their new patio area. We enjoyed visiting with the staff and as always the wonderful wine. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality during this crazy Covid time.

Unfortunately, the lovely hiking trails in the surrounding Mayacamas Mountains are closed due to the wild fires last fall. Still the vineyards and park provide a stunning spot to appreciate nature. The Bartholomew Park Winery is located on the park grounds, but is a separate and distinct entity. Scenic picnic spots adjoint the replica Haraszthy Villa, adjacent to the winery (housed in the former Sonoma Valley Hospital building), and around the Pavilion, located at the site of the burned down Johson Victorian mansion ("The Castle"). This part of the park is quiet and intimate, and a bit hard to find. If you are walking up, follow the old road to the right behind the locked gate (you will have to walk around it; it is chained off). Or park at the Villa or winery. From the winery walk down toward the Villa; the path to the Pavilion area of the park heads off to the left just as you arrive at the Villa and just above the gated road (the path leads to this same road). From the Villa walk up towards the winery, the path is on the left just after the aforementioned gated road. Walk down the road and over the bridge. The park area opens to your right and down hill after the bridge. This part of the park is magical. Native Americans resided here from 2000 BC, with a Wappo Indian tribe habituating this spot from 250 AD to the 1700s. Amazing! Park opens at 10 AM and closes at 5 PM. The Villa is open to tour 12 to 3 Saturday and Sunday.

A recommended wine-tasting venue in Sonoma Valley.
What a beautiful venue! We stopped by here too late in the afternoon to enjoy all of the grounds, but it was still a lovely stop. We were interested in just white wines, and they were all fantastic. I enjoyed the Chardonnay that we tried, but was most impressed with the Albariño. Yum.
