Sprawling tea plantations surround the serene hills of Munnar, which attract adventure travelers hungry for paragliding, treks to Anaimudi (South India's highest peak) and hikes originating at the confluence of three mountain streams. The stone Christ Church, built by the British in 1910, is adorned with renowned works of stained glass, and Eravikulam National Park, about 10 miles away, is home to equally colorful wildlife, including the endangered Nilgiri Tahr (ibex), ruddy mongoose and 120 bird species.

Set at an altitude of 6000 ft in Idukki district, Munnar was the favored summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. Unending expanse of tea plantations pristine valleys and mountains exotic species of flora and fauna in its wild sanctuaries and forests aroma of spice scented cool air yes! This beautiful destination has all these and more. It's the place you would love to visit it's the place you would wish never to leave. . . I attended the show over a period of two days.First day I attended the Kathakali performance which was very good. The facial expressions of the dancer personifying the female character was top-notch.The latter part of the performance the commentary was in Malayali so it was difficult to understand thus turned a bit boring for people who couldn't understand what was going on.But overall if you understand dance, you'll enjoy the performance thoroughly. The next day we went for the Kalariyapattu performance. It was excellent!!!!!Highly recommend this show because you'll just admire the flexibility and agility of the performers because they are so good at what they are doing. They also call for members from the audience as part of the performance where one person can even jump over 6 people! The last part of the show was an act with fire which though dangerous,is worth every penny. If you travel to Munnar even if for one day please pay this place a visit.Though it may seem dilapidated from outside but don't judge the book by its cover. You'll definitely have a good time.

One of the best treks I've ever had yet. The trail to the top is comparatively easy to the downhill. The best part is the mini puddle of water at the peak. Loved that taste ????. Do start before 5.30 to get an excellent sunrise view. Nevertheless, the view as we go top is breath-taking. We also came across a couple of bison on our way to the base camp. You can reach the base camp with a private vehicle too. Entry is 400 at the base camp. You can get water bottles too, at the base camp. They will provide a local guide too. It takes almost 7-8 hours to complete the trek. Do carry some source of food (My two cents: chocolates, bread and jam, orange and banana for instant energy). Carry atleast 1 litre of water. Please don't litter the place. Happy trekking. No need for an extra permit or guide.

As i saw this during monsoon season the falls presented a great sight . To view the falls you have to take a really rough private road from Pallivasal which is about 6 km from Munnar on the Cochin road. The locals told that there is very little water in the falls apart from the rainy season.
