December 10, 2021 Stefan Strunk

Lower Saxony (German: Niedersachsen [ˈniːdɐzaksn̩], Low German: Neddersassen) is a German state (Land) situated in northwestern Germany. It is the second largest state by land area, with 47,624 square kilometres (18,388 sq mi), and fourth largest in population (7.9 million) among the sixteen Länder federated as the Federal Republic of Germany. Beyond the cars and vehicular history, the park and landscaping is beautiful and during Christmas time there were lots of activities. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Maschsee

I enjoyed very much my time spent at Maschsee although weather was not the best for outdoor activities. It is an artificial lake in a walking distance from the city center, suitable for all possible free time activities. It was built in 30th last century and one can identify sign of it. Especially the colummn with Olympic torch runner on its top takes a breath away and scare a bit at the other hand knowing in what intention such monuments were built and what followed. Anyway it makes this place not only recreation area but also historical place worth a more research.

Weltkulturerbe Rammelsberg Museum & Besucherbergwerk

Reviewed By babst1 - Bristol, United Kingdom

We came here as part of a group. We did the english tour where as our relatives did the german tour. I did notice that at the beginning whre the your starts the german tour included lowering the items which hang from the ceiling but on or english tour this was not demonstrated to us. Our tour started where the model of the pump was. The children were well incuded in the tour and one of our grandchildren who is scared of the dark was offered a torch. The interesting part of the tour was the end part where we climbed the many many stairs up a ladder to get back to surface. We did not spend much time in the land museums afterwards.

Burg Bentheim

We found this place by a pure chance, and we felt so lucky! The castle is beautiful and well-preserved, and it has amazing views on the town and the park. It is also suitable to visit with children. The entrance fee is about 5 euros per person which is cheap comparing to other, more well-known castles. There are also less visitors there so it would be a perfect place for someone who loves history/architecture and can't stand crowds. There are also plenty of nice cafes nearby, and the town itself is marvelous. I would definitely recommend it as a day trip, and I am going to visit there again!

Hameln Old Town

Reviewed By 652keithl - Milton Keynes, United Kingdom

I have been to Hameln many times now and each time I just fall in love with the area all over again, take a gentle stroll through the streets and admire the architecture of the surrounding buildings and read about the history of the Town and the Pied Piper, then sit back and relax in one of the many bars and watch the world go buy. A real gem of a place.
