IMH, this is the most interesting attraction in Joinville. This is a ship ride along the Babitonga bay, until an old village known as São Francisco do Sul. I strongly recommend to buy tickets in advance (in the internet), although, if you are a bit lucky, eventually you can get tickets in site, minutes before the boat leaves. During the trip the lunch was served inside the boat, in the comfort of air conditioning. There was no extensive options of food, but it tasted very well, including fish, meat, and dessert. Drinks payd appart. The ship circulated through many islands and the landscape was very beautiful. However, the most surprising part of the trip was the entertainer, a kind of "one-man show". At first, few people payd attention, but over the course of minutes, everyone was "contaminated" by their joy, imitations, funny jokes, and songs sung and played. That was really a great day. The only drawback of this ride is that the pier is far from downtown and somewhat tricky to find. Although the parking lot is a mess, the clercks were very kind and efficient to help people to park in the small parking lot, as well to help them to retrieve the car.

Well worth the effort. At the top there is an elevated viewing platform with (virtually) 360 degree views over the city, mountains, river and islands. Even better (for us) was a lovely 600 metre aerial walkway through the forest surrounding the peak. We walked up and back (about an hour each way) on the access road with forest on both sides, but there are buses if you would prefer. No cafes open when we visited, but there were toilet facilities. There are bars & restaurants at the beginning/end.
