Nestled in the Northern Japan Alps, Hakuba is all about the winter sports. A top ski and snowboarding destination, Hakuba has plenty of snow and nearly perfect powder. Spend the day swooshing down one of the areas 200+ trails, then end with an après ski at one of the area’s cozy pubs or cafes. Local mineral hot springs make great soaking spots for weary muscles.

Definitely a great mountain with loads of terrain, even on the weekends when it's busy there is space to spread out. The newly opened restaurant at the top of Kitaone lift is worth a visit, it was delicious.

ABLE Hakuba Goryu Snow Resort has 3 areas of alpine skiing to enjoy. Alps-daira, Toomi and Iimori. There are 15 courses in Goryu. Alps-daira ski slope’s attractiveness is the long term seasonality which is open until the end of Golden Week. The resorts snow quality and panoramic views of the North Alps are both incredible features to enjoy. Toomi and Iimori slope is ideal for beginners, kids and families. It also has the largest night skiing area in Hakuba.
Goryu is our favourite spot in Hakuba so far - purely subjective - yes! Night skiing was great too. To top up our skiing each day, we'd finish up with Yogorino - yogurt 'ice-cream' in a waffle-cone - oiiishiii!

Lots of variety and big when including Goryu side. Cheaper than Happone and less exposed, so less wind.

The trip was well organised and our guide was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and easy to chat with. The snow monkeys were gorgeous, the lunch was delicious and the sights were memorable. I would have liked more time to explore the village we had lunch in but overall it was a great day, despite the rain!

Merry is extremely patient, talented and wonderful! My fiance and I had a 4 hours private lesson with him and he paced it amazingly well, constantly correcting our form, technique, supporting us and giving us useful tips and encouragement as and when we needed it. Truly a great instructor who has a lot of passion for the sport and we enjoyed his lesson so much!

We had used 2 ski rental shops in Hakuba before visiting the Happo branch of Central Snow Sport and were pleasantly surprised at how efficient the staff were and how attentive they were to each of us beginners about the fit of the boots etc. Most Japanese rental shops are still very, very manual and thus slow and a bit chaotic while these guys organize everything digitally using bar codes. On top of all that, they sent our sneakers back to the hotel so we didn't have to lug them home, and picked up all the gear from the hotel without us having to drop them off by the shop personally. Great service especially considering walking down the snowy street with the skis on your shoulders with ski boots on your feet is such a hassle.

Although this resort isn’t the most recent it has some really great beginner runs for teaching little ones to ski or board, and a massive variety of on snow food options.
